cachecard makes disks non-bootable

What I am seeing is very strange. I have a series 1 with 2x120meg maxtor drives. After installing the cache card, the system was running fine. After a few hours, I rebooted the box. It was stuck at the "Your PTV Receiver is starting up" screen. I took the drive out and restored from backup. No good.
In the PC, the drive looked fine. I then switched the jumpers on the two drives so the slave was now the master. I restored a fresh backup and the Tivo ran fine. I installed the cache drivers, and again, it ran fine. A few hours later, I unplugged to move the box. It came back with the starting up screen again. Now, both drives will not boot.
The only thing I have introduced is the cache card. Does anyone know what is going on? Any ideas how I can make my disks bootable again?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
