Two year old Series 1 DirectTivo.
Shortly after I got it, I upgraded it with 2 120Meg Drives. Worked fine for two years.
Couple of months ago, we stared to have some minor problems. I figured one of the drives was going based on what I read here. We ordered a new Tivo and were in the process of upgrading when the old Series 1 died.
Series 1 would start to power up and just sit there on powering up screen.
Figured that drive 1 was dead. Took the drives out, wiped drive B, restored my original backup image to drive B. Hooked it up.
It got father but before getting the the menu it rebooted. Did this two or three times. I powered down. Plugged it back in. Started up and then died. Power light went out.
I did test the drives, ran several tests on them. A drive was indeed bad, B drive (drive that I am using as new primary) tests good.
Restored image again, just in case. Put it together, plugged it in.
It's dead. The fan is getting power, but it is the only thing that is. Drive does not power up, no lights on the front, no image on the TV.
Any ideas? If the fix is reasonable and simple I may have a go, otherwise I fear its time to replace.

You are never going to know if it can be saved unless you try a brand new drive.

If you hear a slight clicking, the fan spins, and you get no picture on the screen, then this sounds like a bad power supply. Maybe it was beginning to fail and so it took out your A drive in the process, or maybe a brownout or surge did all of the damage at the same time.
