Can I damage My A drive by adding B?

hi ,

If I were just to leave the A drive alone, and just add a new B drive to it, is there any risk of loosing my shows or info by doing this?? (excluding me from grabing the power cord while bathing)

The reason i'm asking is this,
If I open my Tivo up and add the 2nd drive to the unit, and it doesn't work, I don't mind takiing that chance. But if I try to add the 2nd drive and by doing so, I wipe out my entire Tivo software, well then...I'm not taking that chance.

Bascally I have 3 members of the household yelling at me saying...IF YOU ADD THIS DRIVE TO TIVO AND SCREW UP THE ORIGINAL TIVO DRIVE...YOUR DEAD!

So you can see my concerns, :)
Thanks,
Lisa

BlessTiVo is not totally risk free.

In my opinion, the safest option is to remove the A drive and make a backup. You need to be really careful until the backup is made (if you have Windows XP, for example, and allow it to boot, you're in big trouble!), but once you've got a backup, you can recover from any hard drive problems.

Then replace the A drive with the new one. If you want to keep the recordings, this means spending 5 hours or so copying the drive, but it's very safe - if anything goes wrong you should be able to revert to the original drive.
