Link between a show in Now Showing and future show information

I find that one of the things I do pretty regularly is determine, after watching some show in now playing, that I move over to search for the show by title so I can see what other times and episodes are playing, or to alter the season pass, etc.

I would really find it useful to have buttons that would take me either to:

a. the season pass info for the show (if it has a season pass),
b. the wish list entry that selected the show (if it was selected by a wishlist), or
c. the show schedule information - additional showings, possibility of scheduling a season pass, etc.

I guess, in addition to this, it might be nice to have a link from the show schedule info to now playing,
if the show is believed to be recorded or wish list info if the show is selected to be recorded because
of a wishlist (the season pass info link is mostly there -the only thing missing is the priority ranking)...

I would be satisfied with a link to 'get a season pass for this show' directly from now playing if a season pass doesn't exist for this show.
I like to look at the guide for the coming week and pick shows to record by just hitting the record button. The TiVo records the show and I can watch it to decide if I like it. If I do, I have to go to Season Pass Manager to type the name, etc. TiVo should be smart enough to know that a season pass doesn't exist for this show and offer to get you one (or a wishlist entry), and take you directly to the Season Pass recording options page.

Just my opinion.

I agree that a season pass link would be useful. I typically browse through the tivo suggestions and pick shows to record from it - that's where having a link to the episode page would be useful ... I could then look at what other episodes are on if I liked it and decide to record more.

Yep, I've always wondered why on earth shows in Now Playing didn't have "View upcoming episodes" and "Get a season pass" right there. After all, it's not unlikely that shows you've already recorded are ones you'll want to record more episodes of in the future. It's something I would use all the time.

Even if it's a movie or other one-off title, sometimes you might want to see if it's playing again so you can record it again: maybe the ending got cut off, or your cable box didn't change to the right channel, or you want to re-record it at a higher quality because you really liked it and want to save it to tape looking good (I've done all of those more than once.) Maybe you're just momentarily hard-up for space and wouldn't mind deleting it for now if it's available to re-record next week.

I also wish that in the Guide, search & record options were available for shows that have already ended. For example, when I'm browsing and notice that an old favorite movie just ended on HBO -- I know it's possible they'll be showing it again (especially since I have umpteen HBOs) and I'd like to record it if so, but I have to go Search by title to find it.

In Record by Time/Channel, you can look back at a day and a half worth of shows that have already ended, and it's odd, there you ONLY have the option of getting a Season Pass, but not View upcoming episodes.

I vote they link everything! :cool:

Pure speculation, but my guess would be that shows in NP are no longer linked dynamically to the current guide database as are those in To Do (which can change or even be removed if guide data changes). Once the program is recorded the information is associated only with the file itself.

Not that it couldn't be done (and I'd like this also), but I suspect the reason it doesn't already work that way is that it's more difficult than it might appear.
