When the HDTivo comes out, I think a lot of people will be trying to sell their regular HD receivers.

I want to buy one.

How can I post to inquire about buying one, is it ok to just do that maybe a week after the HD tivo comes out. Something like, "I'd like to buy your HD receiver, PM me with details"

I know there are some rules about this kind of thing, but not exactly sure what.

Not sure, but I think it's fine if you start a thread saying you want to buy one.

I see that as very different from someone starting a thread to sell one.

But then, I don't make the rules...

I am sorry to say that this type of post would fall under the no ads rule. Seeing you are seeking hardware, it is a want ad.

What happens with something like that, though not your intent, is that we will have a member, who actually is a dealer or eBayer, make a post under a different user ID that is a want ad. They will then post a reply that they have what the fake poster was looking for, as such, making a marking post. (Been down that road already more than once.)

Go look on eBay. That's where most of them will probably be headed anyway.
