1) It looks like the theory that the show has been spinning its wheels this season is correct, because the wheels have suddenly taken traction. It looks like things are finally starting to happen, and in a big way! The Anubis "dropped thread" has been picked up, the whole White House/NID thing is gonna blow, the long-promised retirement of Hammond finally happened...I actually can't wait for next week, and that's the first time in a long time! [future spoiler]Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
And now that O'Neill is going to be running SGC, they can stop with the lame excuses for why he's not around most of the time...
2) I can see why they re-cast the Jessica Steen role for Atlantis. Good Lord, she was terrible! I've liked her before, but this is just NOT the role for her...

I noticed it was a different actress playing Dr. Elizabeth Weir than I had seen in the Atlantis press release. Let's just hope the other actress is good enough to anchor a series.
I'm definitely anxious to see where this SG1 story is going and the glimpse of Hammond on the Prometheus in the preview was tantalizing. I just hope the Atlantis story doesn't mirror the Stargate: Infinity plot element of being on the run, gate to gate to gate.

All I can say to you MG is (and please, if you haven't seen Lost City part 2 don't look at his spoiler or mine) Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
you are wrong. that's all I can say
The whole bringing in Weir threw me completely--- I knew Kinsey was out to get the SGC after last week's Clip Show (20th episode of the season and you give me a frelling clip show???) I though Profain Devane was going to stand up for them. Interesting.
Jessica Stein for those that remember her good work (I believe her character was called Scout on "Captain Power") and her time served on bad shows (Earth II) has been around genre' TV for a while.
What I have an issue with is tipping the applecart too far over in the 'final' season.
I have no idea how she fits into SG:A even after seeing Lost City II. (shrug) Don't even know if she does. Don't even know how SG:A fits in anywhere.... but I think it's a shame they didn't bring back Parker Lewis for the new show just to apologize for uncerimoniously booting his butt out the door. "Oh, got to go back to your planet? Good thing Daniel just showed up this episode. Don't let the wormhole hit you in the ass on your way out."

I want VP Kinsey to get his so bad I can taste it.
Glad to see Weir standing up to him.
Hopefully she doesn't crumble or get shot.
And, wouldn't it be great to see O'Neill punch Kinsey?
Posted by: Rcrew
Although I'm kinda new to watching, haven't seen Kinsey much, I still hate him. Perhaps some of that's a carry over for the actor. blech!
I hope his veiled threats against the president firm up, and he's busted in the attempt. Then he can be exiled to a prison planet.
But that's not very creative...

Um, could you be more specific?

I rather enjoyed the character development in this one.

Unfortunately not--- but seriously, just wait to see part II and I think that you'll think I'm right.... at least I think I'm right.

Right about what? It's pretty hard to take it seriously when you don't actually say anything, such as exactly what is supposed to be wrong...

I like the President......he has Kinsley's number!! This is going to be interesting!!

I believe that he was referring to the following quote that you said in your spoiler
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
And now that O'Neill is going to be running SGC
And the reason that you are wrong is because Part 2 was released on the internet already and for those of us who couldn't stand the wait watched it already and know what happened. I won't even say it in spoilers because the episode is just too damn good and surprising that I don't want to risk anything for people.

So is stargate sg1 going to be westwing with aliens while atlantis will be the gate jumping version of the show?

If that's true, then I'm right and he's wrong, because Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
next season O'Neill ends up running SGC. This has been widely confirmed by spies (the 8th season is currently in production) and script leaks. The only outstanding issue is whether he is replaced on the team or it goes to three people, with O'Neill tagging along from time to time; there are conflicting rumors about that (there may be a Russion guy replacing him).
His return has never been in doubt; his contract has another year to run, and they had already planned out the 8th season when they signed him.

Ahhhh
I have no idea about next season whatsoever, and didn't know you were referring to it from your original post. I thought you were referring to next weeks episode only. I am clueless about next season :D

Ironically, I'm clueless about next week. Except for the "next week" blurb last week, which made it look like a hum-dinger...

Besides the reason of episode 2 of Lost City I saw a quote from RDA that said Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
I'm going to do a cameo in the first episode of SG:A and then I'm retiring.
Yeah, I was refering to ONeal running the SGC but I'm going to go with you since you've got that information and I'm just going by what I've seen of the last group of episodes-- -which I saw on advance review copies sent out to reporters and such..... I'm still going to be pissed if Don Davis doesn't have a job next year because RDA is too frickin' lazy to show up to work.
Part 2 is worth seeing unspoiled.

okay... I just found out something about the cast of Atlantis that has to do with these episodes.
It is a direct spoiler for Lost City Part II, I would suggest / Recommend you wait till after seeing that to click it but it's answers several questions for me:
SG: Atlantis Cast information
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
namely the fate of Dr Elizabeth Weir.... poor Jessica Steen, I guess they didn't like her too much or think she was babealicious enough

I'm still leary after his comment about making money on the technology.

IMHO, SCIFI has, as expected, destroyed SG-1. It's really no longer science fiction. They've added all this "real life" political and social garbage and yanked out all the good stuff. I don't watch (or read) science fiction to get depressed or worked up about the same kind of stuff that stinks up reality. I watch it to for fun (i.e., to escape). Since SG-1 started up after its winter hiatus, I've essentially fast-forwarded through most of the shows.

Yeah, but remember, they've just come off a season when they couldn't move the main storyline forward! So they had to come up with SOMETHING to fill a year's worth of shows...
Now that they've finally made it to Lost City (which was supposed to follow last season as a theatrical film) and can launch Atlantis, the show can start focusing on its core plots again.
(And does anybody else see the irony that in this case, Sci-Fi "destroyed" Stargate by giving it two more years?)

Yeah. I'm happy for the cast members (other then RDA) for getting another couple of season's employment and being happy to be doing it but it really needed some fresh blood coming in with a serious twist to the show.
It would have been great if they would have done to SG1 what they are going to do to Atlantis and got them off earth long-term and had to get along with no support but that would have meant RDA had to actually show up for work on a regular basis and it wouldn't have happened....
I'm guessing next season will have a running thread through it and hopefully they pull out all the stops for the last season BUT I hope it doesn't turn into "wrapping up everyone's personal life issues" as in Sam marrying Pete the butcher, Daniel hooking up with the now former Goa'uld, former archeology chicky-baby and O'Neal getting back together with his former wife and Teal'c takes over Earth because episode 19 will be called "Chulak Needs Women guest starring Tommy Kirk.

Yes, but they could have done it with Science Fiction type stuff rather than the drivel that they offered. It would have been pretty simple to have a 5 episode interaction with a newly discovered System Lord that was killed off by the end of the storyline. They could have also come up with a new civilization that was different than our culture, but not touched on political or social issues, at least not so heavily.
I'm concerned that the new show will be as bad as this season's Stargate-SG1.
