TUTV causes Freeview channel loss
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The introduction of TUTV has caused the loss of BBC1, BBC2 etc for "thousands" of Freeview viewers, especially those with cheaper STBs:

I have also heard a rumour that the bitrates for other channels on the same Mux are to be reduced in order to make space for TUTV. Is this true? If so, won't it render those particular channels virtutally unwatchable?

They've been moaning about this for ages on Digital Spy. Most problems were temporary and fixed with a rescan, however one box (Sagem?) can't store that many channels so just misses some out. (Nice design boys!)
The bitrate thing doesn't stack if you lookback at the source posts (it talks about fixed bitrates when in fact thay are stat multiplexed).

Yep - though isn't the average bitrate for Five (at some points this has been the highest quality/bit rate service on DTT) being reduced to allow more services to squeeze into Mux A?
I think C4 have never expanded to fill their full (almost) half of Mux 2 - previously shared with E4 and Film Four in ITV/ON Digital days - so the quality didn't increase.
Not sure about ITV1 - for a while it was only sharing its (almost) half of Mux 2 with ITV2 (when ITV Sport or Sport Extra ceased) - but it was joined by ITV News Channel (previously on Mux A as the ITN News Channel). Don't know if the quality improved when there were only 2 services in the 11 and a bit Mbs.
