Curb Your Enthusiasm 3/14 SPOILERS

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

No thread yet, so I thought I'd start one...seeing as it IS the Season Finale.

I thought it was great...the tip conundrum has been done, but I thought the actual show was a perfect parallel for what Larry does best: turns crap into gold!

And Jeff's line about the George Bush mask was hilarious!

I loved some parts of it and some I thought were a bit too much. I thought it was great when Mel Brooks explained why he hired Larry. I couldn't buy the part where everyone got up and started to leave when Larry forgot his lines. Yeah, I know the whole show is insane but I kept wanting Schwimmer to give him a clue. The bit about tipping had been done before. Overall though I thought it was a pretty good show.

Season Finale! What in the world does HBO consider a season. I'll bet there wasn't more the 6 episodes.

I loved this episode also, and got a kick out of the way they tied in Larry's forgetting his lines and the audience leaving to the original movie. Mel Brooks and Ann Bancroft mimicking Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder in the bar waiting for the bad reviews was priceless.

Actually 10 episode in each of its four seasons so far:

The parallels to the original movie were really well done. The shots of audience expressions were identical to the audience shots at the Springtime for Hitler premiere ... also many of the lines, the audience's return to their seats, the dialog in the bar, etc.

Those unfamiliar with the details of the original movie, however, probably had a much different (and perhaps even confusing) viewing experience!

Didn't they already do the "You don't have a book or a magazine?" thing on the airplane on Seinfeld (I thing it was Elaine and Puddy)?

I thought that after a $50 breakfast, Larry would then freak out when he found out how much a Tag Heuer cost. Of course all the cheapskate stuff is weird considering how many hundreds of millions he has...

Yep, saw that Seinfeld episode this morning. Elaine and Puddy fighting the whole way home....... then make up, then she freaks out when he just sits there staring off into space,
no book or magazine

I saw the movie about 15 years ago and I forgot about all that. Maybe that's why the theater stuff wasn't very good to me. The first half of the show was typically funny stuff, though.

I missed the first part of the season. Does anyone know when HBO is going to start re-running it on one of their channels?

Also, any stewardess who spoke to a customer like that (particularly in first-class) would be fired SO fast!

Will there be a fifth season?

If so, will it start immediately following the Producers show? I mean, the guy's still got an hour to go on the 10th anniversary present ... husbands across America are vicariously rooting for him!

Aint that the truth. I wonder how many asked for a similar 10th anniv. present? I wonder how many wives said yes? hmmmmm.

SPOILERS BELOW!

I thought the episode was hilarious. Larry turning down the beautiful sex partner because she was a Republican was priceless. It was amazing how well Larry actually sang and danced in the mock Producers show. It seemed he actually -could- be good in it!

I was surprised at how keyed all the theater stuff was to the original movie. I really can't see how it would have the desired effect at all on people who aren't almost pathologically familiar with the minutiae of the film. But for those who do know it very well, it was really clever and unbelievably well done.

in many many episodes there are very overt references to bits done in the seinfeld series. somtimes tacked just a little askew but unmistakable nonetheless. i wont review my memory to cite examples right now but keep your eyes open/ you'll see

speaking of seinfeld, i loved the quick cuts to jerry squirming in his seat as larry floundered on stage.

A threesome, I suppose. :D

During the first 45 minutes of the show, I was thinking what the hell was Mel Brooks thinking hiring Larry David for this...

Now I know.

I almost squirm when I watch this show, I don't know what it is, it's almost uncomfartable sometimes to see what Larry does.

I loved the cuts to Senfeld, especially since I don't think they mentioned him being there, that makes it even better.

It was a great season and I'm sad it's done for a while now.

One odd thing though, The Producers is one of my favorite movies although I love Mel Brooks in general. But I've never felt the urge to see the play version. But after watching this episode I'd really like to see it. I just hope that if I ever do get that chance it won't have Larry David in it :D

This was a great season finale! I only wish they had more episodes!

Posted by: LlamaLarry

BYW, Cheryl was *HOT* at the premiere. I'd skip the 10th anniversary gift for her anytime.

Posted by: VegasVic

They will probably drop the whole Producers/Anniversay Gift story line next season just like they dropped the restaurant storyline from last season.

Posted by: Frylock

Yes, they do seem to pick a storyline for the season, and then drop it. Same with where they are living. Seems to change now and then with no explanation really.
