The Handler - Boston Public...Gone?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Neither of these shows have appeared on my to do list for sometime. I don't recall seeing them cancelled. Anyone know what's going on?

Boston Public was put on "hiatus" for the rest of the season. No further episodes have been recorded and nothing has been stated whether or not it will be back on next year. In other words, it's probably next to a sure thing that it is gone for good.

It was also about 10 or 12 episodes shy of reaching the minimum needed for sindication.

Don't know anything about The Handler.

Read the cancelled, etc. post-it thread at the top of the list. There's info about Chi McBride joining the cast of another show and the set being dismantled. It seems unlikely this will be back at all.

I think there's an "until" date that the Handler is on hiatus. That one I'm actually bummed about its apparently small chances of returning, but it seems like it will be back, although possibly not for long.

CBS cut their order for The Handler from 22 shows to 15 which is why it hasn't been on for awhile. Very doubtful it will be back, which is a pity, I liked the show.

What's the minimum needed for syndication?

(don't say 10 more than Boston Public!)

100 episodes is usually the minimum, BP was at ~80.

There are two unaired episodes, hopefully they'll at least air those.

The minimum for syndication.....is that something the networks cooked up?

Not in the past, but now, yes because almost all new shows are co-produced with a company owned by the network it is airing on (money on the backend even if the show is cancelled).
