My Series 1 Tivo was making a cllicking noise so I unplugged it while it was recording.

I plugged it back in and the clicking noise has now gone .

However, it will not respond to any commands from the remote control, which I have set at address 0.

The remote control works ok with my other Tivo.

It does not respond to any of the commands from the remote from my other Tivo either.

Both remotes work ok with my other Tivo.

The green light just stays green.

All I get is a blank grey screen.

If anyone can help me I would be most grateful .

Describe exactly what happens when you plug in your Tivo and it boots up. Are you getting any of the "Welcome, Powering Up ...." or "Almost There ...." message displays, or just a grey screen? If you're just seeing a grey screen then something more serious is wrong.

The clicking noise was probably your hard drive's last gasp. I'd pull it out and run diagnostics on it and get out your TiVo backup file.
