Hi,
i have a broken down tivo. Can i use tivo systems hard drive for my pc.
If ican , can anybody tell me how im gonna format it. because when i try to connect drive A to my pc its says S.M.A.R.T status bad.
And finally i got my pc recognise my tivo harddrive its just show 9 Megabyte

If the Tivo died because its hard drive died, then you don't want to try using that drive in your PC. You might want to download the drive manufacturer's diagnostics (probably Maxtor's PowerMax if it's the original Tivo drive), which run using a simple DOS bootup disk, and see if the drive passes.

Is locked. I think its called diskutil. just search the forum for it.
you might want to check to see if the drive good once you unlock it.

this is brand new tivo system never used
just got dameged thru case to motherbord but harddrive is untouched so i think hard drive is good i want a know can i use the hard drive for pc. is that worth the try to unlock it or its realy hard and painfull process

Unlocking isn't hard. You can use DiskUtil (see the Weaknees Upgrade-O-Matic at www.upgrade-instructions.com) or qunlock (linked in Hinsdale). DiskUtil is much safer.
The SMART errors are not related to the drive locking process and definitely suggest a dumpster would be a better receptable for this drive than a PC.
(If it's a brand new system the hard drive may have a manufacturer's warranty.)
