Powering Up......A Few More Minutes........Powering Up......A Few More Minutes...and keeps cycling through them

Any suggestions.

'Almost there' is printed by Linux, so the transfer sort-of-mostly worked. Something is preventing the TiVo software starting up, though. That could be a failed modem, or it could be corruption carried over from the failing drive.

Try triggering a Green Screen of Death with diagnostic mode.

So I should forget about all the programs I have on the old hard drive and find a fresh image and use that?

Yes, if the GSOD can't save it, there's probably nothing you can do. (The GSOD is a repair utility - like ScanDisk - so it's well worth trying).

I suppose there's a chance that MFS Tools got stopped by a bad block. In that case dd with conv=noerror, sync (see Hinsdale) might be able to copy the drive.

As a rule-of-thumb, though, if the TiVo won't boot off a drive, don't be too surprised if it doesn't boot off a copy of that drive (it's not impossible, but it's not the way to bet).

I used dd with conv=noerrors and everything works perfect now.

Thanks for your help.
