Help,
I attempted to replace my stock 40Gb HD with a 160Gb replacement from CC. I managed to dd everything over, but when I put it back into my Tivo, it doesn't do anything. It doesn't startup at all, no wait screen, NOTHING!
Anyone got any ideas to help me out? The wife's going to hang me if I can't get the Tivo up and running again.

Byte swapping issues?
Reset the jumper correctly when plutting it back in the T60?
All cables connected properly?
Did you use one of the CD distributions meant for upgrading or an existing linux system?
If you put the 160GB back in a Linux system does the filesystem look intact? Try viewing it with one of the TiVO upgrade CD distributions; they usually are good about identifying problems, too.

Okay, moved to kitchen, so I could simplify the plug in process...same thing happens...Tried new ide cable..nothing changed...
What does a Win signature on Tivo HD look like? Symptoms?
When I reboot using the linux boot CD I get the following under the partition checks...
"hda: [PTBL] [14593/255/63] hda
hdb:signature 9214, be16 signature 1492
Blocks in map = 3
mac st=1 sz=3f name='Apple' t='Apple_partition_map' bim=3
hdb1 mac st=40 sz=2000 name='Second MFS application region' t=MFS' bim=3
hdb2 mac st=2040 sz=fffdfdf name='Second MFS media region' t=MFS bim=3
hdb3"
Then it starts up with the floppy drive stuff...
What did I do wrong?

Ah another new thread. It must be contagious.
That's the partition table BlessTiVo created to turn your drive into a B drive. It's nothing like what you require for an A drive.
Our working hypothesis is that your original A drive is damaged but salvagable and now has the Windows NT signature on it, which has broken the boot block.
So, having trashed the partition table on your copy of the A drive with BT, all you can do is try the copy again and run MakeTiVoBootable on the copy.
If that doesn't work, you're going to need a compressed backup for the T-60 from somewhere.

Robert,
Without divulging anything that violates the users agreement...where would you suggest I look for a compressed image?

As my sig says, I don't know of anywhere you can get a backup. All the well-known ones like ftp.abs.net took down their images at TiVo's request a few months ago.
You can buy a recovery CD called InstantCake from PTVUpgrade if you can't find on online.
