Hard Drives!

The hard drive for my Hughes HDVR2 took a crap. Where is the best place to get a replacement for it? I need a 40 GB hard drive. All help will be very appreciated!

40GB drives a pretty cheap these days, and you only need a standard IDE computer disk drive. In fact, with 120GB drives under $100 these days, you can upgrade your capacity beyond the 35-hours that a 40GB drive provides.

You can buy pre-imaged drives from many of the advertisers here (weaknees, 9th tee, ptvupgrade, etc.), or you can buy a new computer drive and install the software yourself. Review the posts at the top of this forum for all the detailed instructions. If you choose to do the work yourself you'll need an image file for the HDVR2, which you can buy here http://www.ptvupgrade.com/products/instantcake/

Best place to find cheap drives, without the rebates. Now you can find cheaper drives with rebates, like the recent Circuit City sale, but you will have to be patient (hard to do when TiVo is dead) and do a little hunting in your local paper.
