bought - in a hurry - 'how to get a sky freeview cardf for 1 quid"
admittedly i thought it said how to egt the sky freeview card (as old up to recently by freeview.com or similar)
guy sends me
This is how you get your sky card for £1
Follow the instructions exactly please.
First log onto http://www.sky.com
click order sky online
click free minidish and box
answer NO to the 6 questions
click the box under sky world and family pack
where it says add to sky van
click free minidish and digibox and add to sky van
put your name your address and in the bank direct debit details put your name in there, and your sort code and your account number,
pay for it using a debit card in your name (dont worry they cant use these details to take anything else)
pick the earliest install date you can get, the sooner it is the quicker they send the card to you.
Thats it, you will recieve your card a couple of days before the install date and you’ve only paid £1 for it.
Once you have the card just send the contract back to them signed, watch Sky for a year then cancel it and your card is now a freeview card. IF you want it cheaper than paying the full amount for a year then you can downgrade to the basic package after 1 month.
After the contract is cancelled the card will continue to work as a freeview card allowing you to STILL view ALL free to view and free to watch channels.
PLEASE NOTE
The information in this is correct at the date of typing, however NO GUARANTEES WHATSOEVER ARE OFFERED OR IMPLIED,and under NO circumstances will any correspondence be conducted about this and NO refunds whatsoever.
The information above if followed will allow you to receive a card for £1 which will allow you to view the freeview channels as advertised
SKY may change their system of sending cards at anytime. If you use this info you do so at your own risk.
which is UNTRUE - do i have any chance of getting dosh back - note 'at time of typing' - this info was true - there is no proof it was typed BEFORE the end of january when cards stopped.
oh - i shouldnt be so stupid

My old Pappy once told me " Son if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".
Still, sorry you were snookered.

it just annoys me that people are allowed to sell a blatent lie as 'information'
i bought this thinking it awas a card or info on ahow to get a card fro frweeview on sky for some of my tennants (long story)
instead - its 'sub to sky for a year (eek) and then its free - sorry - but cr@p - its not. the information is 2 / 3 moths out of date. it odes NOT allow you to view ITV etc which is the issue.

Neg him - especially if the information is incorrect. Might be nice to put
"At time of typing this information is rubbish".
I must admit I've always ben sceptical about the 'get this free' or 'get this for £1' auctions. I assume most are all that type of reply, order something..cancell it.
:(

You could post a similar auction, explain all that stuff you paid £1 for, then at the end of it write "oh damn, I just told you what I was trying to get you to pay money for! Oh well." Keep relisting the auction. At least it's unlikely anyone else'd be, uh, snookered. :)

he sent my money back this morning... said 'next time read auction more carefully'
which was nice :)

If it's the auction that I think it was, the seller appeared to have an otherwise-good reputation. Strange to try something like that. Did you point out that reading the auction would not get the correct info re. ITV?
Posted by: guydewdney
this is what i sent him. - short answer - yes.
as of the end of january the information you have sent me is incorrect. therefore, as per ebays own rules, the information you have sent me is incorrect, and false. therefore the deal is null and void.
Sky themselves have told me that its its NOT possible to recieve ITV / 4 or 5 via a free card sent by them as from several months ago - this is why i started looking on Ebay for a reliable person - such as yourself - with a decent feedback. as you can see - i have a 100% perfect record, and am fair when it comes to these things - but 11 quid to tell me to call sky? I think this is wrong. Also - there is no post and packaging - so how can you charge for this?
I suggest we deal with this amicably, and not get childish about this - I do understand that threre is 'no guarantee' etc etc - but - I'm afraid a blatent lie is not really on.
I expect an answer asap

It does seem a very strange way to ensure that you lose a perfect ebay feedback.
I feel sad for all of those people who will just curse and accept it.

I often wondered who actually bid for those eBay offers to give info for money; now we know.
Guy, I have several million in a Nigerian bank account, al I need you to do is...
:) :)

The one I saw appears to have disappeared from eBay. However, it inferred that you were getting a card, and NOT information.

I have ex-subscription Sky card.
Sky downgrade them to be the same as a free-to-view card - so you get ITV1, C4 and Five etc.

for sale - or just as info?
if it was downgraded before iirc the end of january, then it will still show itv - after this it wont...
as ian said - it inferred that it was a card - i didnt read it right (hurry, a few pints...)

I was under the impression that if you stopped subscribing to Sky, you still got access to all the FTV channels?
Is this no longer the case?
Posted by: guydewdney
no - no longer the case. you still get bbc and sky news and a few obscure channels, no longer get itv, ch4 or ch5
so if i un-sub my other card today - i do not get ITV. if i did this in december, then i would still get it
so i need an ex-sub card that has been unsubbed from at least january if not before. help?
anyone help me?

Pinched from elsewhere:
"Subscribe perfectly legitimately to NASN for two months (Will cost £14.99 per month plus a £5 connection fee)
End your subscription at the end of this period if you no longer require NASN. Your card will still be fine for ITV1/Channel 4/FIVE"
**I haven't verified this myself...maybe someone else can confirm?
