I decided to take advantage of a free wireless network adapter made by Syntax. I assumed it wouldn’t work with Tivo, but I figured I might as well give it a shot. Sure enough upon plugging it in the green power light goes on, but no network setup options in the phone/ network menu.

Is there any way to install my own driver? Are there other things I can try? If it ends up not working at all I will eventually get one of their recommended adapters.

Have you tried restarting the unit? You'll basically need to get the message saying something like "a new network adapter has been detected" to get it to work at all. The light may just mean that it's able to draw power from the bus.

The Syntax uses prism 3. drivers. I have seem 2. available, but nothing for the 3. on tivo. If you can find the 3. drivers for linux you should be able to port them over.
