Best way to transfer Seasons Passed from HDVR2 to Hd-Tivo ????

Hey all well I have about 50 season passes in my HDVR2 that I will have to put in my new HR10-250 when it comes in from VE. My question is has anyone figured out what the least amount of steps to put in a season pass for say Survivor and Trading Spaces. Survivor is easy cause it only comes on once a week. Trading Spaces comes on many times a week but has One specific time that its a New episode.

The Season passes I have are some from my wife, some from me, and some for my daughter. The point is I wish to redo all of them so not to piss off my wife anymore than I have by buying another expensive toy. Well I have no clue what day of the week some of here shows come on and when are New shows vs. repeats.

My current plan is to write down one by one all the season passes we have and see if the tivo will give me the standard time and channel it records each program but don't remember how much info is given in any one page.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Also I guess we all assume the menu structure will be identical in the new HD unit compard to a HDVR2????

By far the easiest way is to not transfer them. :D If you have that many season passes, you aren't going to want all those SD recordings taking up your HD space. Migrating ONLY the HD shows improves your conflict resolution AND maximizes your HD space. I'd only do SD season's passes on the HD if/when you have confilcts on the SD.

Thank for your thought but I will be keeping all those season passes. Those are the programs we watch and love. Yes some will now be HD season passes but many will be SD pregrams. I have a regular 70" big screen to watch SD programs then a 105" Electric screen that drops down infront of it for HD programs and DVD. Most of our viewing will still be SD. Like Suvivor, Will and Grace, Aprentice, Fear Factor all of those are still SD and not HD.

By the way I use a Sharp 10k projector along with the 105" screen for HD.

Do you ever leave the house?? :)

I'm not suggesting getting rid of any seasons passes, just splitting them up between your existing TiVo and the HD TiVo.

To answer the original question: The best way and only way is to manually re-enter them on the new unit.

Yeah we do leave the house as crazy as its sound and we both work full time and raise a 2 year old. But the TV is on from 6:00pm till about 11:00 pm every weekday and most of the time on the weekend. We probably watch less than 30 minutes of live TV in any one week. We have somany different programs to watch. Mind you I have about 10 car shows, my wife has about 10 cooking shows, my daughter has about 6 kid shows. Then we have all or regular weekly shows it crazy but it adds up. The great part is we only have a 35hr unit and we have yet to run out of space and usually have some suggestions in the machine. At the same time we do other things while the TV is going we dont just sit there like vegtibles. Also I fast forward thru many of my shows if that episode is junk, so a 30 minute car show may take me 5 - 10 minutes to see the highlights.

So anyways Yes I know I will have to manually put them in but was wondering if going thru Channel list was best or by time. It seem like you can get to a particular program thru many different ways and was wondering if one of you crazies has actually found out witch is the fastest and the least amount of steps?

Also I will be selling my HDVR2 so the new unit will be my only unit.

Well, multiple units aside, best way to transfer them is to use a digital camera to take pictures of the Season Pass Manager screen(s), then re-enter them... Much faster than writing them down... :-)

IMO, the best way to enter a whole bunch of season passes at one time is to use the "Search By Title/All Programs" screen. Enter them in priority order so you don't need to mess with the SPM later since rearranging SPs takes sooo long.

Others will probably have different opinions.:)

ok now we are getting creative. keep the ideas coming.

You can also record to your VCR while you page through the season passes to get a record.

My TV has a "twin screen" mode in which I can see two inputs at once. I plan on bringing up the HD-TiVo on one and the SAT-T60 on the other and just walking through the SPs. My daughter's cartoons/Nick/Disney shows will stay on the SAT-T60 and the others will go to the HD-Tivo.

I'm going to be running the machines in parallel for a while, so I could refer from one to another. But I'm thinking of transcribing them into a spreadsheet, so I don't have to switch the TV all the time. The transcription can be done at my leasure before next Thurday, it doesn't have to be done in a hurry. Having them on a separate screen will make enterring them quicker.

One thing of course, is you can't enter most season passses till the guide data has populated.

I run an HDVR2 and Zenith 520 in parallel now. I don't see much changing in my plans when I swap out the Zenith for the HDTivo, except the HD shows will be recorded on the new box. Only a few of my SP's will be moved so re-entering isn't a big deal. I'll try and manage the process such that it optimizes what ends up where.

If you leave both connected, you can PIP them as well.

As the owner of 3 DTivo's I have actually done the "Season Pass" reprogram a few times for different reasons.

Some issues you may have: You can't always add a Season Pass on the new machine! That's because they new Tivo will have only have data from the next few weeks. If you have an SP on the old box, but that show has NO EPISODES in the next 10-14 days, than you can't create an SP for that show. The new DTivo will have NO KNOWLEDGE of the existance of the show. If you MUST transfer the SP, then you can create a WishList on the new box to replace the Season Pass on the old box. But Wishlists are prone to failure if a mis-spell the title in any way, and you can't validate the WishList via using the "Show upcoming episodes", since as we established, there are no episodes in the schedule yet!
