nic_config_tivo fails to enable WEP?

I'll appologize in advance if I am being a dolt and someone has already identified and resolved this issue.
I have a Phillips Series 1 Tivo to which I have added an AirNet card (ZoomAir 4105) which working like a champ but without WEP enabled. I have hesitated to try and turn WEP on as I really don't want to have to pull the hard drive yada yada. I tried to have my ducks in a row. I put my ZoomAir in my laptop checked the firmware version and even enabled WEP via the laptop to make sure all was in order.
I slapped the card back in the tivo, pushed nic_config_tivo to the tivo, set permissions and ran it. I selected option 3 and 128 bit and hit enter. Here is where things went awry. Instead of stopping on the "New encryption key ... line" it kept truckin indicating that I had entered an Invalid key.. The output from running nic_config_tivo is provided at the end of this posting. From the output it at least appeard to have enabled WEP and left the default WEP key in place. I went ahead and rebooted the box. After I rebooted it I enabled WEP on my access point, tried to telnet to the Tivo without luck. I disabled WEP on the access point and sure enough I could connect to the Tivo again. I re-executed nic_config_tivo and I was back to square one. I carefully went through the process a couple more times to make sure I wasn't inadvertantly double tapping the enter key etc with the same results. So it appears that at least on my box nic_config_tivo is incapable of enabling wep. That is of course assuming that I am not missing a terribly obvious step.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Am I doing someting stupid? I pulled the version of nic_config_tivo I am using from slicondust today.
Thanks

Weird.
I have a few enhancements to add to nic_install/config over the weekend - I willl test this again on my tivos.

I'm having a similar problem with my ZoomAir 4103. Problem is I don't know how to pull the log file to troubleshoot it.
Is a BASH prompt accessible via the serial connection?
Any updates would be appreciated.

One thing worth note is the fact that the problem occurs after hitting enter on the following line:
New encryption setting [none 64bit 128bit]? 128bit
This line is different from the rest of the input lines in that it auto completes the input for you based on the first letter you type. While this is a nice feature, I am wondering if the implementation is causing our problem. Perhaps the shell is picking up a carriage return or line feed as part of the auto completed word. Just a thought.
