I have been watching this show for about a month now and it is just unbelievable! If you are not watching it, do yourself a favor and tune in. Tonights episode was just awesome!

I like it too. I just refuse to believe they can do the planning AND the construction never mind the logistics in 7, 24 hour days,

I enjoyed it, although the kudos to Sears got a little cloying at times.

There was a shot of one of the carpenters apparently using a non-CRAFTSMAN power tool. The tool was blurred out.

Sears is apparently footing the bill. I don't mind them blowing their own horn on this one.

This episode was probably one of the best episodes of this series, mostly because of anyone, it was obvious that this family so deserved it and so appreciated it... plus the fact that they didn't just do the one house, they did the whole neighborhood.

The only detail that I kind of questioned was actually the retractable security guards on the windows... while it's kind of nice that you could remove the guards, they were kind of slow in lowering. It'd be nice if they were like in a bank, where they drop into place really quickly, and retract slowly.

Other than that, the sheer manpower on this episode was just amazing. The hundreds of contractors and general laborers that they normally use is amazing - the fact that they had hundreds more Sears employees coming in like an army just was awe-inspiring.

This show is just flat out awesome...I'd be surprised if you could watch it without getting tears in your eyes on occasion...it's just amazing what they do for people.

Best show on TV right now. Nothing better than doing something good for others. Props to Sears for sponsoring the show.

I have teared up on every episode ha ha

I would have really loved to see what they had done to the school house though, they should have shown that.

Yeah, I bawl every single episode. This is TRUE heart-warming television. Forget that 7th Heaven/Touched by an Angel crap =P

I'd like to see this community in about 2 years or so and see if this has really changed things there.

I'm pretty curious to see how much money they spend on each house and how much work needs to be done on structural things that may have been neglected in a run down house like roof leaks, dry rot, termites, etc. I'm mostly curious to see if they address those things or if it's along the lines of Trading Spaces where it looks good for the camera mostly.

In case anyone else is curious, here's a link to a map showing where Watts, CA is:

We love this show. I make fun of my wife every week for getting a little teary eyed, but tonight neither one of us could hold back.

Stew

PS. did they already get rid of the guy from last week that was fighting with everyone? (did they get rid of both of them?)

Posted by: GameGuru

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe he was just a temp. Or maybe he was fired ha ha.

I wonder which came first Extreme Home Makeover or Monster House.

While Extreme Home Makeover is much grander in scale I much prefer Monster House. It let's you get a feel for what the builders go through trying to get the jobs done in time.

You know SOME advanced work has to be done for permitting and such. They even had a shot of the inspector signing off of the triplets house some time before the family showed up.

I hate to say this, but this show could easily be 90 min - but better a bit short than too long.

This show, of course, must cost Sears a ton and I think everyone should definitely visit and purchase from Sears. This is such a great thing to do for those people who have hit hard times that it needs to continue. Support Sears!

I agree wholeheartedly with everyone here. This show is simply incredible. I have serious doubts it's done in a week, but I frankly don't even care. The fact that they are doing it is amazing in it's own right.
I have teared up a few times as well. Not since E.T. has that happened from entertainment.
And Gameguru is right, this is advertising at it's best. Think of all the Superbowl ad money that could be used for good like this. I'll definitely be supporting Sears.

if you dont get teary-eyed at some of these eps, then you arent human. it makes me feel great when i see someone get something the deserve/need. even on the regular extreme makeover, if someone is in need of cosmetic surgery and they get it, i get a great feeling.

shows like this make you realize there are people out there that are more worse off than you. it makes you realiaze you dont have it near as bad as you thought you did. i'm not wealthy, i'm not perfect but there are many people out there that would honestly kill to have my life.

There is nothing like seeing a well deserving family react when they see their new home. It just sends chills, and makes me appreciate what I have. Very good show and I hope it lasts a long time.

P.S. I think Ty was a very good fit for this show. He appears very sincere, caring and seems to have a special place for the children.

This past week's show really humanized Ty for us. Yes he can be annoying, but during the interviews, you could just tell that the project really affected him.

And was I the only one who wanted to grab the landscape designer by the collar and shake some sense into him. The woman LIVES for serving her community, and that includes the cooking. The garden was great, but "The Big Honkin' Smoker" allowing her to cook for others really captured what that woman was about.

Also, I know the previous family were deserving and grateful, but this woman broke down not believing her good fortune. This woman gave and gave, not expecting anything in return. It was nice to see someone like that rewarded.
