Don't know if I'll watch ( 6:30 and 9:30pm pacific on Trio) but the description from my cable guide made me cringe,

LIVE autopsy poor guy....

Too sad. If I got Trio I would have to watch this, of course, however! lol! The horror, the horror, the horror. ;)

They have that autopsy show on HBO. They usually do a new episode once every 2 or 3 years. The last one that was on a couple months back had a real life(or death) autopsy.

It was kind of shocking to watch. The doctor just goes to town with the cutting and breaking of rib bones and pulling the skin off the head. I just imagined that they would be all careful and repectful, but he just treated it like a side of beef.

The verdict on the guys death was that he drowned in his own vomit after a night of extremely heavy drinking. He said if the guy had passed out on his side or stomach, he would have lived. He passed out on his back, vomitted while on his back and drowned.

You have to remember, to many of these examiners, the body is just a vessel for the actual spirit of the person. They *have* to think that, or they'll never make it through medical school. Most of the ones I know who've done autopsies (which actually is all of the doctors I know well) are respectful, but they also have horrible time constraints and pressures to do their job quickly, so looking respectful goes by the wayside.

My brother used to harvest donor organs. He said that if you wanted to keep your sanity, you couldn't concentrate on the body as a person or you'd last about an hour on the job and wouldn't be able to continue.

Kinda wish I'd gotten Trio to watch this.
