Scott Helvenston, a contestant on USA's grossly underrated 2001 series Combat Missions, was among those killed in the mob attacks in Falluja Wednesday. From the Combat Missions website:

NAME: SCOTT HELVENSTON
AGE: 35
HOMETOWN: Oceanside, CA
EXPERIENCE: Navy SEAL, 1982-1994
RANK: E-6/QM
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
Youngest-ever graduate of BUD/S (17 years old)
Deployed four times
Served as Free Fall instructor for four years
STATUS: Discharged as part of squad elimination in Evolution 13.
I have nothing else to say about those attacks that wouldn't sound trite and likely inappropriate for this forum.

It is too bad. But, I will comment...
The U.S. forces should give a 48 hour notice... Something the likes of: we will not tolerate any action taken against American civilians. We are coming in en masse to remove any and all illegal weapons from you and the city. Women and children should flee. Men - stick around... We'd like to talk with you...
And then "bring it". What they did was barbaric and requires a barbaric response. Clinton didn't have the guts or gonads to do so in Somalia. Bush must show that he does. Really sorry for the innocents that will inevitably die, but ya gotta pay the piper for your actions. Said "innocents" if they wanted to spare themselves would start turning in those who aren't. Guilt by association should be the mantra there...
I'm pretty upset about the whole issue so maybe that's where my "kill 'em all" attitude is coming from, but when my brother is headed there in a couple of months for his 2nd tour, and another one of my best friends is there as a combat medic - I don't have a lot of tolerance for barbarians... Barbaric actions on their part should be met with the swiftest and deadliest of responses. Period...

Scott Helvenston even showed up in last story on tonight's NBC Nightly News covering the 4 killed in the mob attack.
Rest in peace bro'.
Great show by the way.

I loved Combat Missions and I was deeply saddened when I heard that Helvenston was killed in the recent attack in Iraq. I have talked to many of my frieds who also loyally followed the show and I think the general concensus among my friends was -
Scott was the guy you absolutely hated on Combat Mission, and now that he's been killed, you realize how much you truly loved him.
Again, it's very, very sad.

Scott was one of my favorites on Combat Missions. He was one of the true combat professionals. Hard to believe that he ended up losing his life in Iraq.
I really liked Combat Missions. Compare Combat Missions to any of Mark Burnett's other productions. Survivor? The Resturant? The Apprentice? With the exception of EcoChallenge, Combat Missions outclassed them all. Too bad it didn't get better ratings.

There was a lot of children in that mob. And the women will bear more children for the next mob. we are hated there. If all you want is some pay back fine. But it is a mess over there. We will never turn that place into Mayberry East. Do what we have to over there find the WMD "ahh humm"
and get the hell out. Let the UN do the Nation Building
