 I've ordered my 320GB upgrade kit. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions, observations, hints etc.. that may help during the installation. I have the Phillips HDR212. I am an experienced technician. That's why I bought the kit. I was looking to add capacity to my Tivo, I was not looking for any adventures in troubleshooting! I get enough of that enjoyment at work. Any advice will be appreciated.

Why would you think there would be a problem? Plenty of people have done TiVo upgrades. Only the ones that have difficulties ever post here (well, it seems that way...)
Just try to remember that a TiVo is not a PC and do what the instructions say, not what you'd normally do when you have the top off a computer and you'll be fine.

Well, the instructions did say to join this group and become informed before attempting the upgrade. I'm simply following the instructions. :o

The biggest difference between working on my TiVo & my PC is that my TiVo had an exposed power supply, as opposed to a PC which has an enclosed PS. Watch out for those capacitors, they'll give you quite a shock if you touch them.
I was also surprised at how cramped it was inside my TiVo. I had to gently use needlenose pliers to get the power molex & IDE connections unplugged.
Work slowly, and good luck.

OK, the operation was a success... 344hrs 29 mins recording time. Time to install was about 25 mins. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Now, has anyone seen anything on TV worth recording?
