Howdy,

I have a SA S1 Phillips HDR312. I have opened it up and added the following line in /rtc/rc.d/rc.sysinit

/bin/bash</dev/ttyS3&>/dev/ttyS3&

This gives me bash for about 30 second. Then I start getting some garbage when I type. Then I lock up. I am using the same bash cable (and null adapter on my S2 Dtivo and it works fine) But I set for 9600 baud on the S1 and last about 30 seconds. Any ideas?

Check your log files for the TIVO to see if it tells you any reason why..

I'm presuming that what you typed in your post isn't 'exactly' what you put in.. if it is -- go back to the instructions for doing that and correctly put in the spaces as required by the instructions.. what you wrote above contains no spaces.
