HELP!!! 'powering up' problem WTF?

WTF is going on with my Tivo. I have a philips DSR7000R with a 40 gig Hd and over a month ago I added a new 160 gig hd to it. It was working just fine until late weds night or sometime on thursday. Suddenly it's stuck on the powering up/almost there screens and just loops those. The new hard drive clicks on the initial power up, so I'm wondering if that crashed. I've tried unplugging the ide cable and rebooting the main drive, but that doesn't work either.
What are my options here? Could the drives just be locked up? is there a way to unlock them? If the new drive crashed, can I unassociate it from the original drive and just get the 40 gig'r working till the other drive gets replaced/repaired? Can I pop the drives back into my PC and run the qunlock on it? If the 2nd drive hasn't crashed, is there a way to get the recorded shows off that drive and onto my PC?
Thanks.

If the drive is clicking, or isn't working properly, then the machine basically won't work. You can't just remove the 160 GB drive from the unit, you'd need to restore the software to the 40 GB drive.
If you bought the drive from an upgrade provider, then you should contact them for help. If you did the upgrade yourself, did you make a backup?

So if I needed to restore the old software to the 40gig drive how would I go about doing that, from the hinsdale guide, and follow the directions for restoring the image? The only backup I made was of the channel line up, wishlists etc. Nothing else really. I didn't back up the saved programs.
The new drive, was bought at circuit city I think, and I did the upgrade myself. I haven't made a back up since installing the new drive, is that something I should be doing on occasion? Seems kinda like a pain in the ass.

If you didn't specifically make a backup with mfstools, you'll need to find a backup image of the TiVo OS somewhere, or buy a "replace" kit from an upgrade provider.

I have a tivo.bak file about 330Mbs that I made when I did the upgrade. Is that what you are referring to? Is that sufficient to do what I need.

That's the one.
