Any ideas when we'll get new episodes?

Posted by: timr_42

I think I saw somewhere that they were not going to make any new eps, but I just looked here http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stor...03/22/index.htm and they are saying that there will be a season 3 and 4. No date as to when they are to air.

I believe it's been renamed Justice League: Unlimited, and supposedly some other heroes will be joining, such as Green Arrow and Atom.

JL:Unlimited is supposed to premiere in August.

Here's how the network describes the series:

"The heroes of the Justice League return in August with a new series, Justice League Unlimited, which incorporates a bold new look and a much larger scope. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern continue to lead the universe's most powerful superheroes in an effort to stop criminal plots and alien threats that endanger the universe. Now, in Justice League Unlimited, they are joined by an even greater collection of heroes, some of whom are well-known, like Supergirl, Green Arrow and the Atom, as well as some that are less familiar, like Booster Gold, Hawk & Dove, Elongated Man, The Question, Mister Miracle, Big Barda and Zatanna. Each half-hour will tell a power-packed story, combining some of the original heroes with new ones as they band together to battle alien invasions, powerful sorcerers, vast shadowy conspiracies and even ancient gods."

In addition to the characters mentioned above, other heroes to appear on the show will include Black Canary, Red Tornado and Firestorm.

Hey, what about the "special" episode "A League of Their Own"? I missed this two-parter and they never seem to repeat it.

Anyone know anything about it (beyond this?)

Posted by: edc

It is part of "Static Shock." ARWL for "Static Shock" and "League" should catch it.

Posted by: rtype

I caught the "A League of Their Own" eps using exactly that method recently so it may be a little while before it airs again.

The episodes I still haven't caught are "Wild Card" parts 1 and 2. Hopefully they'll air them again before August.

i have to say i'm not feeling a warm fuzzy about justice league unlimited. it sounds like the roll of superheroes is too wide and frankly too corny. hawk and dove? firestorm?

i hope it makes sense why they'd be meddling in the universe and not just they somehow got a 'warning signal' on a watchtower display and go off to fight big oozy scarey alien creatures. i do think some more episodes about new genesis and darkseid and possibly the ......i forget the name of it....that character that was created to bring all the divergent dc universes together, his sidekick was harbinger....

anyway, hope it's not corny.

This frightens me. Justice League season 1 was only so-so. They really didn't seem to know the characters, and kept telling stories that had to end in a big fist fight.

Season 2 got really, really good. They really caught their stride with the characters, and they started telling more cerebral stories. Now it sounds like JL:U will probably have to revert to season 1 quality while they relearn everything.

I had a hard time with them giving WW the ability to fly. As a long running comic book character from way back, this was certainly a newly added ability.

Posted by: MitchO

That's not that new. They did that with the character reboot post Crisis .. over 10 years ago.

Unfortunately some current characters aren't mentioned in the article. Specifically, Flash, J'onn, and Hawkgirl.

Maybe they just weren't mentioned - but given the increased number of "guests", I think this omission may have been intentional.

I'm hoping it's the same core group with guest appearances by the newer characters. In the past they've done episodes where only three or four of the League are featured. Perhaps this will be similar but with a new character thrown in here and there.

Me too. I missed the same ones when my dish suffered some "snow fade"...

I'm a little worried about this change. It seems to me that they had trouble with the current series (judging by their inability to come out with new eps in less than 2 years). I envision them making a handful of so-so episodes and then rerunning them until 2007.

Posted by: sieglinde

And why can't they rerun the entire series. I didn't record Wild Cards either and it has never shown back up.

Hey, hey...the ARWL picked both parts of this up the other day. Glad to see it. It sort of finishes off my Justice League collection.

Has anyone else seen the episode(s)? The bad guy is Brainiac who takes over the Watchtower and Static and Gear are there by themselves when it happens.

I almost fell on the floor when Brainiac uttered this line:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
"All this base belongs to me."

:)

Oh...funny to note that the same guy who voices teenaged Static also voices Green Lantern John Stewart. Could they be much different (and yet the same)?

Apparently the second episode of the season will be a adaptation of the Alan Moore Superman/Batman/Wonder Women story "For the Man Who Has Everything". It is considered one of the best "big three" stories of all time.

Oh! Is that the one where
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Mongul gives Supes a "gift" of a parasitic plant that forces him into a dream-like state where all his ideals of everyone seem to come true?

Wasn't that pre-Crisis continuity? That might be kinda cool!

Posted by: stark

That's the one.

Considering how poorly Hollywood has adapted his work (see League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), for him to give his blessing means he has a lot of faith in Bruce Timm and crew.

Um, he gave his blessing to League too...

...but he won't watch it.
