American Idol Tonight 4/13- Spoilers w/ news

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: scubagal

Rumor has it that there is no voting tonight.

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
because John Stevens is quiting- so I guess he just is gone (or will be gone after a final performance!?!?) and nobody needs to be eliminated

Interesting, and this could be total BS.... I am not sure.

Is tonights episode moved because of the election stuff?

Posted by: dslunceford

I heard there's no voting because the show's been moved 'till tomorrow/Thurs due to the President's speech

Check out the SP Alerts forum....

But John Stevens sucks and should quit :D

(I didn't tag because you have Spoilers in the thread title, no need for tag in the thread itself, I wouldn't think)

Posted by: juslight

I don't think anyone would quit AI unless they had some family emergency. People are desperate for camera time and even though you know you can't win, you can still beef up your image.

Posted by: cbordman

why would he quit? He wasn't even in the bottom 3 of the voting last week.

Posted by: scubagal

No clue.. like I said, it could be total BS. Guess we will find out tonight if I am a total liar :)

Posted by: Falconeer999

If it is true (God, I hope it is), then we probably wouldn't find out until tomorrow, otherwise people wouldn't see the point of watching tonight. If they announce it tomorrow, they get the ratings for tonight and tomorrow (ratings are figured at the start of each half hour, so even if they announce it at the beginning of the show tomorrow and people turn it off afterwards, they'll still get their 2 nights of ratings).

Just like American Idol is all about winning to the contestants, American Idol is all about ratings to FOX.

Posted by: Donbadabon

None of the spoiler forums I subscribe to have reported this. I would think this would be front-page news. Which would lead one to believe it is not true.

Posted by: BelugaWhale

I could see him quitting just because he seems like a reasonable young man who has got to recognize that he is out of his league. He also seems fairly introverted, and all of the attention (especially the negative attention) might be really eating away at his nerves. If I were in his position, I would probably be considering quitting, too. I guess the decision would come down to whether enduring the harsh criticism would be worse than the media coverage and criticism that would come with quitting.

I feel sorry for the kid. I think he fully realizes that he deserves the criticism he gets for his performances on the show, and I know that well deserved criticism can sometimes be harder to take than criticism when you don't think you deserve it. I wish I could give him a big hug and see him in his high school musical instead of on the AI stage.

Not sure where the discussion for tonight's show, but since this is spoiler labeled and I'm listening to the show live (cough/hack), I hate hate HATE George Huff. And Tarantino's going to be a total snooze-he should be meaner.

Posted by: firerose818

What was up with Paula during the introductions? She was kind of frightening... :(

George Huff picked a terrible song for him!

Anyone who chooses to sing Celine Dion, or actually idolizes her, deserves to be eliminated, deported, and shot.

In that order.

Posted by: CatBurger00

....

What just happened? At least here, during a commercial for the O.C with the "thumbs-up to schedule recording" thing (the name escapes me), it seems fox switched to a upn feed? :/

Or Whitney Houston.

Posted by: BLeonard

Did anyone watch the little musical "Splish Splash" number they all did in towels. I usually Tivo over these things but I was amazed to see one of the female contestants grab Jon
Stevens crotch. I went back and watched it in slow motion and she definitely seems to grab it intentionally and the look on his face is priceless.

Posted by: firerose818

Fantasia was amazing. This is the first performance of hers that I liked, and I thought it was phenomenal.

JPL should not be allowed to dance. Ever.

Who is Diana Huff? Simon mentioned her name when he was criticizing Jasmine.

Maybe George is married LOL...funny Ryan didn't bust on Simon for that blooper which I rewound to ensure I heard it correctly.

PS that product placement is getting just a bit out of hand..splish splash

Posted by: Turtleboy

Well, if people didn't Tivo the show and fast forward through commercials, they wouldn't have to do the product placement. ;)

We caught that too and rewound - I think it was his accent coming out....as in "You and Diana huv" (meaning "You and Diana HAVE"). When you change the wording it makes more sense, but you are right, we rewound it a couple of times because it definitely sounded like "Huff."

I thought he was great! His critique of Diana Degarmo wasn't mean enough for ya? :)

Posted by: AV8NDV8

I've been listening while the TiVo is saving AI. Only got up once and I guess it was Fantasia? Damn, that was great.

Paula Abdul - she acts like she's hitting the booze or pills again. There were a couple of first season shows where she was totally spaced out, slurring words and making wild gestures. I didn't see it the second season but I've noticed twice now that she's acting like she's had something I would love to share. :)

Posted by: niferbee

I want to see the final three be Latoya, Fantasia and George. Before this week Fantasia was not one of my top three, but she's inched up and nailed that this week. She's got an awesome voice and if they can find the right song to write for her, she'll be amazing. And Latoya and George are great too, but the Summertime rendition by Fantasia was phenomenal. I hope it comes down to those three.

Oh and I suppose the next thing you know they will start placing product placement on the internet ;)

Posted by: Dexter1

Fantasia should never sit through another song. Her voice came off more nasaly tonight than the previous weeks. Hated her performance.

I think either Diana or Jasmine will be voted off tomorrow.

My bottom three: Diana, Fantasia, JPL.

I thought Fantasia's performance tonight was phenomenal. I have loved her voice from the beginning; her personality took some getting used to. After hearing her tonight, I would buy her CD in a second (provided she releases on, which I would count on).

Posted by: NJChris

I normally don't like Fantasia but this song was perfect for her. And she was more humble afterwards. I liked her a lot more.

George was really awful tonight. He really doesn't have a lot of range.

Posted by: eric_mcgovern

Anyone else catch the comment from Simon to Fantasia? "Those lips have never been put to beter use"...and then a wink...

Posted by: brott

I thought everyone did pretty good tonight. My picks (in order):

LaToya
Jennifer
JPL
John
Fantasia
George
Diana
Jasmine

Sorry folks, I'm not a fan of Fantasia and I simply did not agree with the Judges (or my wife, for that matter).

America will vote out either Diana or Jasmine and Quinten summed it up best. Diana will be gone.

Posted by: faerie

Fatasia ROCKED!!

I agree about the Whitney and Celine, those 2 artists should be banned from the show. Diana's performance was painful... and it didn't help that the song she picked was probably the ONLY song I can say that I HATE.

It's hard to say who is going to go. I see Diana going... maybe...

Posted by: justapixel

I say it each week, and I'll say it again.

FANTASIA!!! She's so good, heads and tails above the rest. I want to buy her CD now, and I want to see her perform live now. I've never wanted to see any of the other ones before, but she's a diva with staying power. She's the first really BIG star they'll have.

This was an excellent show this time. Once Diana, John, Jasmine are gone, it's going to be one fabulous blow-out of a show.

I know, JPL should be in that list, but I find him quite entertaining.

Love Tarantino and his honesty. He really is a fan of the show.

Posted by: LoadStar

I'm unable to decide which I want to leave first at this point - John, Jon, or Diana. All three need to go, now.

Jon Peter was by far and away the worst of the lot this week, so bad I had to mute it and look away. The combined shouting along with the melody and the stomping around the stage was a horrifying combination. I'd give him the boot.

Diana - no. I used to like her, but she can't find her own voice. The cutesy singing got old after the first week (Still like her performance singing "I've got the music in me" but nothing after that.) And her experiment trying to "sing older" fell flat for everyone, including me. It was good - just not "WOW!" tonight. She can go too.

Fantasia - meh. Didn't love it at all. I can see how people who did like her liked the performance though. For me - bleh city. Yeeech. And personally, I grow tired of hearing people rant and rave about how good she is... I honestly don't remotely see it.

Jasmine - I don't know what people are hearing when they criticize her. I think she sounds great. I can't see it happening though, unfortunately - but the fortunate part is that she is likely to have a killer career after AI.

John Stevens - again, one trick pony. He had to revert to the only thing he can sing competently. Definitely should never have been in this competition, and should be gone after Jon Peter.

George - hrm. Very middle of the road. I really don't think his voice is particularly very strong. I think he has sort of a Ruben thing going for him (minus the weight, of course. :) A little more gravelly than Ruben though, I guess.

Jennifer - still seems to me to be a very good gospel singer. She has pipes, that's for sure, but I think they're more suited for a gospel performance than a pop performance.

LaToya - also a strong voice, but to me, I heard some rather sharp notes that didn't really appeal to me tonight.

Overall (not just based on tonight) my rankings are:
Jasmine
LaToya
Jennifer
George
Fantasia
<huge chasm>
JPL, John Stevens, Diana (all about the same level)

Once those last three get voted off the island - errm, wrong show... you know what I mean... the competition should get fierce.

Oh, yeah - the pornmercial tonight? The little bit of it I saw, eeew. Serious *shudders* going on. The only one that was worse was the oft repeated Paula-Simon one.

Posted by: ced6

I really, really hope Jon Stevens leaves tomorrow. At first he was mildly entertaining, now he just puts me to sleep.

Also, Diana - maybe I was listening to a different show, but I thought she hit some seriously sour notes - she had me cringing through about half her song. I hope she goes second.

Then, I think I would prefer Jasmine to go - she's ok, but not great. I just don't connect with her at all. JPL, though a worse singer, at least keeps me entertained by changing it up between all the balad singers.

My top 4 are George, Fantasia, Jennifer, and LaToya. Though I think LaToya is a technically better singer than George or Jennifer, I don't really feel her personality, which makes me like her a little less. Fantasia rocked tonight.

Posted by: nyny523

I cannot wait to see Jon Stevens and Diana go - I think it will be Diana this week, because Jon actually did OK with the song he selected. He will be gone soon enough - as in, the next time he can't sing something previously recorded 75 years ago...
Diana just gives me the CREEPS! She has since day one - she reminds me of the Baby June character in Gypsy - marginal talent and a sickeningly sweety-pie personality...Yuck! Both she and Jon make me cringe when I watch them.
I think Jennifer is great - underated, and won't make it until the end because she isn't popular enough - but impressive. George had a bad night, but I still think he is strong. Latoya was great, as was Fantasia (I could actually see Fantasia on Broadway after that performance - very theatrical).
Not sure how it will fall out over the next several weeks, but I believe the final 2 will be Latoya and Fantasia - a definate style difference and a close finish...

Posted by: mask2343

Rankings:
Fantasia: anyone who couldn't appreciate that one is tone deaf
George: Song wasn't for him, but he sang it well
JPL: fun, funny, hope he stays around longer than some of the boring singers
LaToya: getting more boring every week
John: picked the right song. Won't last much longer
Jenniffer: just another power ballad singer (with bad facial expressions) Seen it all before (on a cruise ship)
Jasmine: good singer, but at this point of the competition, she isn't good enough compared to the other girls
Diana: getting the boot tonight. NEVER sing Celine, you can't hang with her.

Posted by: johnspalm

My rankings:

FIRST THE JUDGES:

Simon - Well, I believe everyone pretty much knows where he stands with the current contestants. I was glad when he slammed JPL's performance.

Paula - I like her, but she is useless.

Randy - Same as usual, which I like. Honest, and to-the-point.

Quentin - I like his personality. He probably could have been a little more honest in his critiques. I'd like to see him come back sometime.

NOW THE CONTESTANTS:

George - The judges summed it up the best: It was the wrong song for him. Definitely not his night. However, I still expect to see him in the top three.

Fantasia - This woman is a star performer. She just has it. She makes the rest of them look like plain karaoke singers.

JPL - I hope I'm not the only one that sees this guy as one big phony. "Jailhouse Rock" is good song to sing if you want to cover up a bad voice (no offense Elvis).

Diana - As much as I like her, she is just not Idol material. As others have mentioned, the cutesiness has got to go. Bottom three, definitely.

Jasmine - I like her but, let's be honest, just ho-hum. Another bottom three.

John Stevens - It's amazing how crooning covers up a bad voice. But, he will probably be retained for another week with the help of his teeny bopper following.

LaToya - Good, but not her best night.

Jennifer - Her performance really showed off the darkness in her voice. She has been improving more and more each week. She is pushing it too much, which causes the sharpness.

Posted by: Redleg

Fantasia is clearly in a class by herself in this group, or any other season of AI for that matter. Sometimes I even hear some Billie Holliday in her voice. Her natural ability to turn notes and phrases (as opposed to mindlessly flailing up and down the scales) is what 99.9% of pop and R&B and soul singers don't have. Win or lose, she'll get a record deal, and I'll be buying it. She's the first performer that could get me to consider seeing these bozos on tour... well, maybe not.

Jennifer keeps improving, and we really liked her from the beginning, so it's been fun to watch her. La Toya is also an excellent singer. After giving one of my all-time favorite performances last week, the wheels fell off poor George. I think he'll make the cut again though.

John Stevens finally gave a performance he can be proud of (not great, but true to his style), but I'm hoping he and JPL and Diana and Jasmine just go already. The girls' bubble-gum performances and JPL's antics are just out of place. ( Though he overuses the "(blank) Idol" phrase, Simon nailed it when he said "this isn't Comedy Idol.")

Posted by: billypritchard

I just don't get the Fantasia dislike. I agree her voice is somewhat nasally, and she has come across as having some attitude. But her peformance tonight was perfect. Not only did she sing the notes, but she Performed the song! She was emotional, and you could feel it in her singing. That's something that Diana can not come close to doing right now. Maybe in her future, but not now.

Not too mention that Fantasia's song choice was by far the best one. You can't go wrong with Gershwin.

I'd rank last night like this:

Fantasia
Jennifer
LaToya
George
JPL
John
Jasmine
Diana

I'd rank the whole competiton so far:

George
Fantasia
LaToya
Jennifer
Jasmine
JPL
Diana
John

Not a whole lof of difference, but three weeks ago, I would have had Jennifer in my bottom three, so she's really grown.

My wife and I both thought there was something in the coke cup other than coke.

I wasn't paying too much attention to last night's show - none of the performances really hooked me. My wife was amazed though when Jasmine grabbed JS's package during that splish splash thing. Will we be hearing about that now over at the FCC? Molesting minors on national TV? *groan*

I do have to say that Diana was my early favorite but she has really slipped the last few weeks - she had a couple weeks of doing the same song, just changing the words (I think she even took the same path through the audience). And last night, for someone who has been remarked about her technical ability - she sure missed a lot more notes than she hit. Had the hair on my arms standing on end.

I'd love to see JS go, but I think Diana will go tonight.

Since you started it, you don't know what the f-ck you're talking about. To think Fantasia is crap and Jasmine is great?? I don't even know how to respond to that.

2 comments from me:

- What's the deal with Ryan S. pronouncing Jasmine's name? He always makes you wonder whether her name is Jasmine Trias or Jas Mintrias. Can't he put at least a millisecond pause between her first and last names? :)

- Re: John Stevens. I think this guy should just keep singing songs that HE can sing. And when the judges slam him, he should just say, "Look, I'm 16 and I can sing really old songs really well. So I've decided that's what I'm going to do. When America wants to vote me out, fine, but until then I'm going to be ME". Guaranteed standing ovation from the crowd, and he pretty much shuts the judges out for the rest of the time he's there.

I've heard that next week is Barry Mantilow week, so if John S. makes it through this week (and I think he will), he's pretty much a lock for one week more.

Posted by: Redleg

TB triggered more rambling, sorry.

Jasmine is a fraction of a tone flat on at least half her notes, including the last note last night! She is the most cringe-inducing performer remaining. Fantasia on the other hand misses almost no notes (no more than any other professional singer) and further does something with them. She adds a little lift with her phrasing that just feels natural, without seeming like she's trying too hard. Fantasia and LaToya are the only ones giving fully polished performances.

Jennifer has the kind of tone, pitch, and effortlessly huge voice that could make her not just a gospel singer but an opera singer, with training of course.

Hey, I never ever liked Macy Gray (sp?) and she rocked the charts. It was clear that I was in the minority there. I'm pretty sure that I don't like Fantasia for the exact same reason (which is just because). I'm not a fan. However, I do agree that she has a long way to go.

Posted by: jgickler

Did anyone else think that these kid have never seen a good movie in their lives?

Half of them picked Disney annimated films as their favorites, which I guess I can understand if you are a teenager. But Sister Act II, Bowfinger, The Wiz, and Dead Poets Society?

I'm suprised that Quentin didn't jump on stage and strangle whoever picked Bowfinger.

Posted by: cpalma

Fantasia, LaToya and Jennifer...in that order!!!

I have loved Fantasia from the beginning, but she really outdid herself last night. LaToya was also wonderful, but didn't move me as much as Fantasia. I was afraid for Jennifer when it was said she was doing a Whitney song. That's always a bad idea LOL. She very pleasantly suprised me. She sang it almost perfectly. If Fantasia and LaToya don't make it to the top 3, then I'll know something is fishy.

George: bad song choice for him. It seemed like he couldn't get the beat or something. One mediocre performance doesn't mean anything to me though. He is my 3rd choice for top 3.

Jasmine, Diana, John Stevens: I totally agree with the judges. They are too young and/or inexperienced to have the power voices that the other 4 mentioned above have. When you are finished listening to them, it's like...yeah, so what?

JPL--will someone tell this kid he can't sing! or Dance!!!

I'm sorry this competition has turned into a such a popularity contest, instead of a talent competition.

TB, I guess it's all about personal preference. I can't stand Fantasia either and I get really annoyed when the judges fawn all over her, but then again I can't stand Van Halen with DLR or SH and they are loved by millions.
Just one of those things :)

But do you think that Jasmine is great?

Posted by: juslight

I don't think JPL should be in this group of quality performers, but I still voted for him 20 times last night.

why?

Because he's an underdog I guess. It's the same reason people are buying William Hung CD's. I just want to keep him around for comic relief.

Posted by: dconnel

Count me as another person who dislikes Fantasia. I can't stand her voice. The nasally thing makes me want to leave the room. I do however understand that she appeals to many (including my wife) and will probably win the competition.

I would listen to an album by Jasmine over Fantasia any day. I like her voice better. Missed notes are generally not a problem when recording because you get as many do overs as you need. I understand this competition is about getting it right on stage. My comment is about who I'd rather listen to on a CD.

One thing I will agree on though is that Fantasia is more seasoned than Jasmine and a better performer. She knows how to work the crowd. She will go far and be very successful. I just don't want to listen to it.

Posted by: Dafaso

I like Fantasia - 2nd to LaToya - but I can see how many wouldn't like her nasal voice. People seem to either love or hate her - no in between. This is why it's not a good idea to have people vote against a contestant. Fantasia could possibly have the most fans out of all the top 10, but she might be voted out first because there's probably more people that also hate her more than the others.

You nailed it!! I just couldn't put my finger on why i don't like Fantasia's singing. It's nasally! Plus her cocky attitude doesn't help. Though she is getting better about that w/ the tears last night.

I actually really like Diana's and Jasmine's voices... expecailly Jasmine's. Maybe is Jasmine wasn't so pretty i'd feel differently. Next time i should listen to her singing without watching her.

I want Latoya to win... i think she has the whole package.

John & Jon... i CAN'T BELIEVE they are still in the competition. But in a sick way i'm glad they are because it makes it interesting to have bad singers in the group.

I find it funny that John changed his hairstyle to be more like Seacrest's... i guess he's taking Clay Aiken's lead in hopes to stay a little longer.

Jennifer... good voice, but too "Gospelly" for me.

I love George's deep singing voice but it didn't go well with the song choice this week. Hope he stays because i think he's far better than most in the group. Definitely the best male in the group.

I'd like to see George and Latoya in the final two.

John

Wow... such emotion against George. I feel he is one of the contestants that has listened to criticism and improved each week (though last night was bad song choice). His performances are consistantly among the top of my list.

I also thought Tarantino rocked as a guest judge.

PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!!

Stop it. My ears beg of you. Please have mercy on me.

JPL should be gone. It shouldn't be possible, but he both sucks and blows.

Really, please, don't punish us. Stop voting for this lame excuse for a singer and let someone with talent stay in the competition rather than losing out to this p.o.s.

I just don't get the Fantasia dislike.

I've been saying for weeks she needs to stop singing from her sinuses. The sad part about that is it would take maybe a week of working hard on it, and she'd have that fixed-it's not a difficult problem to fix, particularly when you are younger.

But I get the feeling she's not too open to criticism during lessons, so it's possible she's been told this and just ignored it.

To be fair, I generally don't *watch* the performance episode, but rather listen to it with my back to the TV, so there's a lot I catch that people might miss while thinking "dang, that guy cannot dance!" or that I might not catch for the opposite reason...but..

-George Huff needs to do gospel. I can't stand his voice. I just don't get him. Tarantino obviously did, though. (I though Taratino was too Paula-esque for the evening, but that's just me.)

-John and Jon...JPL needs to go. He appeals to those who like regular ol' guys. John I feel badly for. He's SO young...I'm just not sure he knows any better. I'm afraid he's going to think since he'll lose this competition that other avenues aren't open to him, and he could have a good career in another genre.

-Diana was actually better than normal last night. I'm a tad more impressed with her every time I hear her, even though I hate that bleeping bleepetty bleep of a song.

-Fantasia I've already mentioned.

-Jasmine has no stage presence. I almost never remember anything about her performances.

-LaToya is being surprisingly non-exciting, as well.

I'm forgetting a couple of people, but that's because they were forgettable.

And I'm with the above poster who thinks these kids haven't ever seen a good movie. Yeesh these kids have some bad taste in films. (Other than Dead Poets Society, IMO.)

Posted by: laria

Finding Nemo is a good movie too :) Other than that and Dead Poets Society, though...

They should find a way to limit each person to have 1 vote. That way deserving singers will get more votes...

I disagree. I think Jasmine has a very hard time with pitch. In almost every performance, she hits some really off notes. Last night was better, though.

Do you honestly think Jasmine will have a more successful singing career than Fantasia? That, IMO, is a long shot.

I totally agree. Sometimes I'm baffled that the judges don't point this out.

I am not a Fantasia fan (the whole nasal thing pointed out by others -- although I'm not sure she could change it if she wants to since she talks very nasally as well). But last night I thought she was the best. Something about the emotion she put into the song. I usually like LaToya best, and thought she sang perfectly well again last night, but there just didn't seem to be any emotion. Technically great, but somewhat forgettable.

I disagree. I think Jasmine has a very hard time with pitch. In almost every performance, she hits some really off notes. Last night was better, though.

Do you honestly think Jasmine will have a more successful singing career than Fantasia? That, IMO, is a long shot.

Jasmine has more soothing and pleasant voice to listen to, when she doesn't miss the notes like the final one last night or "me...." in "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" but that is something that voice lessons would probably correct. I admit Fantasia was excellent last night, but I could not listen to that voice for more than a couple of songs and her attitude just gets under my skin....

If you listen to Fantasia speak, it sounds the same. It's not a nasal singing problem...it's her voice. She probably can't correct it. Macy Gray has the same thing going. I for one love it.

Even the small sampling of opinions on this board make it clear that the general public is very split on who they like and dislike, but if the two you like don’t make it to the final three, you’re going to assume the show is fixed – uh?

She can fix it, trust me, or there would be no good singers whatsoever from the midwest. I actually had to fix this problem myself-people from Kansas speak extremely nasally-when I went to college and took voice lessons. It took less than a semester. I was 19 and bull-headed, and if they could make me do it, they can make anyone do it.

Fantasia is actually Chris Rock under that wig!

I do, but a large part of that is because she's better looking.

Also, I think Jasmine gets a lot of votes because people remember the girl with the flower in her hair.

And Jennifer is Eugene from The Practice under her wig.

My prediction for the top 2
Latoya and Fantasia.
If either one of them wins, I'll be happy. The Jons need to go, Perhaps JS can tour with Harry Connick or something.
even my wife who doesn't think much of Fantasia was impressed with her last night.

And FINALLY America gets it right... JPL, John Stevens, and Diana in the bottom 3. Any of those can go, and I'll be fine.

Yeh!! JPL is GONE!!! Woohooo!

Double WOOT!!!!

Good friggin' riddance.

Next week's target: John Stevens!!!

Posted by: BLeonard

Why is it that everyone (except Camille) seems to perform much better when they sing their song AFTER they have been voted off. Either it's because the pressure is off or maybe they underperform some weeks intentionally to move the show the way producers would like it to go?

Posted by: MarkofT

I think they mix the audio differently. Turn the reverb on. Up the mic a notch so it is actually louder then the background music.

Posted by: TonyD79

I think they sing better because the pressure is off.

I didn't get to watch until tonight. Watched the performances and the results shows back to back.

I think America got the right bottom three.

And Fantasia has annoyed the CRAP out of me but she did pretty well last week and this week was perfect. I didn't hear the nasal whine. Quentin Tarantino was wrong. She does sultry MUCH better than she does funky (that is when the nasal comes out).

Anyway, the song she sang is one of my favorites of all time and she did it justice. THAT performance I may be willing to pay for.

This, to me, is shaping up to a battle between two polished performers. The "good cop" LaToya and the "bad cop" Fantasia. The runners up look like Jennifer and George, in that order.

This should end up good.

My feelings exactly. America *FINALLY* gets it right!

Thing is, with as much as I despise JPL, my hatred for John " The Zombie" Stevens runs THAT much deeper. The voters need to finish the job next week and vote that red-headed stepchild OFF the show

Ironically, I though JPL had one of his BETTER weeks and yet, it wasn't good enough.

Posted by: jradosh

As much as I really like Fantasia, I fear that the people here that don't could well be in the majority. :( Thankfully she'll end up OK after last night's performance... regardless of what the masses decide.

Don't be so sure. I think he'll do okay singing Barry Mantilow. Plus I imagine that he's picked up JPL's voting bloc.

Seemed intentional to me. His face afterwards is hilarious!

I was thinking more along the lines of Flip Wilson's Geraldine.

the look on stevens face after she grabbed his junk is great...

Posted by: Redleg

Unless he's grotesquely deformed or amazingly endowed, how is that his junk? It looks like it's directly below his right shoulder, and not far from his right hip and waist. It's definitely well to the left (his right) of his head.

Yes, but I'm one of her most vocal critics, and I don't vote. So you're okay as far as I'm concerned. :D

It's definately his junk. His upper body is twisted.

When you watch the video her palm touches his belly button by reaching behind but then as she passes him her hand very clearly and (looks to be) deliberately "goes downtown".

Posted by: mask2343

No mention of Christina Christian? How do you all think she did. Personally, I didn't like it (I loved her in season 1). She looks like a Q-tip up there. Skinny just isn't sexy anymore.

Posted by: LlamaLarry

I thought Christina looked pretty bad; she reminded me of these little dolls my nieces have.

(psst - it's MANILOW. No T. That is all. :D)

She was actually reaching for the twist in the towel to attempt to make it drop... unfortunate placement of the twist in the towel placed it right over (or very, VERY near) a particular area of the anatomy.

It's not the first time that the producers of AI haven't thought about what something would end up looking like on TV, and it probably won't be the last.

Unfortunately, yes. He's been working with the Idols since Wednesday, as I understand - he cleared a week in his schedule (insert joke here) to try and help the contestants out as much as possible.

"Oh, Mandy... you came and you gave without taking... but I sent you away, ohhhh, Mandy...." <HUUUUUUURL!>

I actually thought she was horrendously bad. Those notes weren't really notes...they sounded more like extended cries for help.....Ugh!

I wish the judges would offer their thoughts and opinions when former contestants come on the show (i.e.. Clay, Tamyra, Christina, Kelly, etc...)

Surely Simon would have been all over that miserable effort last night

I doubt they're completely nude under those towels. Seems more like his pubic area if anything....(shuddering at the thought of a naked John Stevens....)

Pornographic? Hardly...but bizarre nontheless....

Thanks, Spire. Really.

I had just about recovered from the "Mantilow" pic - even managed to choke back the water I had just swallowed that was desperately trying to make a U-turn - when I saw the Eugene from The Practice crack. That did it - high pressure water spray all over my monitor.

Excuse me while I go find a paper towel windex to clean this mess up...
