The Shield 4/13 (spoilers)

Well... that was a good episode! I love how Vic urged the skel to off himself! A shame he didn't. Tavon ain't dead yet and is actually getting better... I can't wait till (if) he wakes up!!! Still feel bad for Aceveda. Can't believe he hasn't even gone home yet!

Do you believe that the previous Cassidy acting out stories is due to the Corrine/teacher guy relationship or do you think there's still some abuse going on like the general consensus was before this episode?

Looking GREATLY forward to next week's episode!

I think this is one of the most carefully-constructed shows on television, and as other pointed out last week, the fact that Cassidy's affect was so similar to that of the elderly rape victims and Aceveda must be significant.

And I really think (hope) we're heading for the fall of Shane. I've really despised that guy since the beginning, and all his nasty, self-destructive qualities have completely taken him over. And he knows too much for Vic to let him live...

While I'm hoping for the fall of Shane, his stint as the gay prostitute last night was hysterically funny. The comment the other prostitute made (which is a bit lewd, so I won't repeat it) after Shane made the comment about the rims on the passing car was classic.

As far as the rest of the episode... well, I'm starting to get into the Dutch and Claudette thread a lot more than I expected. All we need now is a Hannibal Lecter type to steer Dutch in the right direction. ;) I loved how out of place Dutch seemed in the press conference.

I still think the tutor is molesting Cassidy or Matthew. The affair angle just seems too obvious for a show as intricate as The Shield. Of course, if the tutor is sleeping with Corrine, that gives him additional time with the children. I think I might be slightly disappointed if it turns out the tutor is really just sleeping with Corrine.

I'm shocked about the theories that Cassady is being abused in some way. Not at all...her behavior is textbook for a child of divorcing parents.

Posted by: barrettd

I vote for Cassady being affected by the divorce as well as her mom dating this guy instead of her being abused in any way. I just don't think abuse is the case here. Last week (or earlier?) when Vic brought her home and she walked right by the tutor, Vic told her to say hi, and she casually did, instead of just running to her room or whatever. I think her behavior would be much more affected if she were being sexually abused. But I'm no doctor.

Vic’s wife, nice ass! I was surprised how calm Vic was about his wife being involved with the teacher. Let’s see if he stays that way. Boy did they make Shane look gay, lol.

Heh, yeah. When she first stepped into frame, I thought "Nice, is that Shane's girlfriend? <pan up> Woh!"

Good episode. It didn't move the Aceveda storyline along as much as I was hoping, but I think that's going to get more attention next week. The strike team breaking into the safe should be interesting.

I thought Vic caught the code while he was looking... but I guess he didn't want to stare long enough to do that. You'd think breaking into those things isn't too difficult and the strike team surely has a few thieves that 'owe them a favor'.

Also dont forget the safe guy that Vic knows from last season. If I remember correctly the guy seemed to know what he was doing.

I wondered if the ass on Vic's wife was a stunt butt. We saw it pass through the frame, then we saw Vic, then cut to her putting on jeans, but couldn't really see the butt. Just a thought. Enjoyable, nonetheless.

Definitely a TiVo moment. Rewind, play, pause. Whoah. Very nice. It definitely made up for the thong butt later in the show. ;)

Definitly hit the repeat button a few times on that one, not to mention rewinding the show to that part after the show was over, lol. I don't think it was a stunt butt given the fact that the whole show is taped with hand held camcorders and editting a stunt butt in would have been more trouble than it was worth. What I think is kind of interesting is that she was naked (or at least from the waist down) in the house with him there along with all the kids. Kind of makes you think what sort of funny business is going on there with the kids still in the house and what the kids may have seen? This may explain why Cassady is acting so funny.

The "Corinne's Ass" got me a punch in the shoulder after I made a comment to the effect of, "Damn, Vic, you can't let an ass like that get away".

Dutch's press conference was hilarious, especially when he was provoked with a "So you have nothing" comment, he went off about the guy, and said, "oh, and he's probably impotent too".

Contrary to popular opinion, I like Shane. Despite all his faults, he's loyal to Vic. And seeing him on the street corner almost made me wet myself.

The last two shows have really pushed the envelope on what you see outside of the premium channels. Aceveda last week, and VERY strong language last night.

I'm waiting for the cellphone pic of Aceveda to show up. Think Vic will get his hands on it somehow? Maybe bust the guy and check his cell phone?

Good episode. Vic had some classic one-liners.

Well that is what Aceveda is afraid of, and thus he spends hours paging through Hispanic suspect mugbooks.

The obvious path this could take is the strike team breaks in to get the treasury book and Aceveda finds out, then Vic somehow tracks down the cell phone pic and uses it as their get out of jail free card. But I hope they are more creative than that.

I'm starting to suspect that Aceveda will find the guy first, and seek out his own vengence.

Then again, Vic & the Strike Team would have a nice nick name for the captain if they did find the picture first. "Captain Ass Invadah"

I don't think Vic will be the first to find out about the picture phone. This show doesn't usually go in that predictable a fashion. My guess, Cluadette and/or Dutch will be the one that first finds it.

Posted by: MacThor

My favorite "Vic-isms" were after he and Julien busted in on the dealer who had words with the cop's late wife....

"Uh oh, guess we shouldn't have knocked so hard."
"Put some clothes on, leave, and improve your taste in men."
(Informs dealer about cop's wife and kid)
(Dealer): "You don't see me cryin'"
"Well, we just GOT here."

Delivered as only Vic can......that was a double-rewind for me.

My thought on the phone is that some smarter bad guys will get it, and try to extort the Captain with it. Then he will have to send Vic after them to make it go away.

As far as the tutor abusing the kids, I say - no way. The guy must know a little something about Vic. How stupid would he have to be to mess with his kids?

I think Shane's girlfriend isn't really pregnant. They haven't shown any real evidence - trip to the doctor, etc. In the scene where Vic helped them clean the apartment and he said the Luminol fumes might be "bad for the baby", she didn't say a word - just got this really cold look.

This is definitely the best show going right now....

I don't know if that matters. I think that the fear of getting caught is a secondary consideration for anyone sick enough to molest children.

Wasn't Tavon feeling the baby when Shane walked in, just before they had the fight?

Posted by: Cleetus VanDamme

I agree with those of you who posted that the tutor is not molesting Vic's daughter and this episode firmed that belief up in my mind. He is making moves with Vic's wife, the daughter is just acting out like a teen with some emotional problems.

I had a theory that she's an undercover Fed, but she seems to be taking things a little too far for that.

Supposedly - but I still think it's a scam...

But then...

"Captain Ass Invadah" - this would be good for the South Park Strike Team. Cartman would be Vic, of course.... Butters could be Dutch - anybody else?

Ditto. you never would have suspected from her frumpy looks. And Aceveda's wife is super pretty!

Posted by: newsposter

Why isn't Shane in the hospital with gloves on pinching the oxygen tube that is keeping Tavon alive? That's the only 'shield' way out of this unless he really is Shane's replacement. They better not drag this out via a soap opera scenerio keeping him in a coma forever.

Even if the captain finds the phone, how can he be sure it's the only copy out there and if the guys are smart, they will just say they have copies and use the captain as their get out of jail free card from all future crimes.

am i thinking too much like a criminal now :)

Posted by: IndyJones1023

I think Tavon will recover with no memory of Shane's fight. But over time will remember it and exact revenge upon Shane in the future. And however it plays out, I can't wait for the phone thing to get resolved! And personally, I would have riddled that shack with bullets. No child killer deserves to live.
