I am a newbie to Tivo and the only dissappointment I have is I have not been able to find a lineup (schedule) of upcoming shows, particularly movies, that have a rating such as ** (two stars or three stars) am I missing something?
thanks in advance.......

I don't think that's possible with a wishlist or otherwise.

The company TiVo uses doesn't provide this.

On a related note: How do you find the original premier date?

Posted by: cwoody222

Hit the "Info" button on your remote when on a show detail page and you'll see a new page that has the Original Air Date listed.

Note: not all shows will have this OAD listed.

Ok, how do I do this on a S1?

With the listing already showing press the 'Enter' button.

This is on NP --> Show right?

Can I do this from the banner? I don't have my TiVo right now.

You can't get at it from the banner, but if you hit record and select 'Season Pass and Other Options' you get the screen where the extra info can be obtained.

Any other route that takes you to the screen for that program works too - TDL, Search by Title, etc.

Ok, now I understand.
Thanks

Are you sure that is true? ReplayTV has the ability to search and record movies by their star rating, and Replay uses the same Tribune data that TiVo uses, AFAIK.

Hmm, I thought they didn't. To someone that has their TiVos, does it show up under the Show Page --> Enter/Info ----> New Page?

Both the regular and expanded guide data on TiVo show the movie's star rating, and always have. TiVo doesn't offer the option to search/sort by star rating though, AFAIK. Not sure why they don't.

And I am positive Replay and TiVo both use Tribune for their guide info.

Just as an additional bit of info the SA TiVos have star ratings in their guide data BUT the DTiVos do not.

Of course, even on the SA TiVos, the stars are fairly meaningless as there is, as others have noted, no way to search one the stars. It would be nice to have however.

But even more useful would be a "not" opperator for wish lists.

Of course none of these will be added and mostly all TiVo has been doing for the last releases is adding cosmetics and fluff rather than actually enhancing the interface. That is all I expect for the future. They seem to be resting on their history and have no interest in improvements with real value to long term users.

Didn't there used to be a listing for all the 4* (and maybe 3*) shows? I seem to remember something in the TiVolution magazine or in showcases. This was a long time back, and was a feature I didn't really use, but I remember stumbling upon something like that...

Now they have a list of featured B-Movies

Ah yes, I had forgotten that DirecTiVos use the DirecTV guide data.

I must assume that TiVo still sees standalones as not their future "base" or mass market; ie, they want to get into more integrated satellite and cable boxes. As such, they are no longer interested in enhancing our user experience, but rather are interested in licensing TiVo technology or selling extra services like HMO. If DirecTV had star ratings in their guide data, maybe then we would get the ability to search movies by star rating. It seems rather short sighted of TiVo, but then I suppose their resources are limited for the time being, even though it would seem to be a fairly trivial improvement to implement.

Although you can't WishList by the number of stars, some people may find WishLists for "OSCAR FOR" and "OSCARS FOR" useful.
