Since moving from sky to telewest, I have had a lot of strange channel change problems, and was wondering if anyone has any ideas.

I have a pace 4000 box and have found I need to use the dongle, which I am, I am also using codes 20035 Medium with enter key sent.

Every single time I change channel using the Tivo remote I get 100% success - I CANNOT get it to fail.

However, 90% of the time Tivo tries to do a recording, it does not change channel at the start or the end of the recording. I am not saying it changes it incorrectly, I am saying Tivo does not even appear to attempt to change channel. (The IR light on the pace does not light either during these times).

Anyone got any ideas on this?? I would have guessed the location of the IR wand, but I cannot see it being this as manual changes work without fail, it is only the recordings that dont even seem to attempt.

As an aside, I have also watched the screen when a recording starts, and NO numbers appear on screen, as they would when a digit is pressed.

Could be IR interference, though I'm not sure why this doesn't happen with a manual change. The TiVo won't transmit IR while it detects other IR being transmitted.

There is nothing I can see interfering - I have removed all other remotes, turned off all I can, and it still occurs. - but again only on channel changes.

Like I said it doesn't even appear to send a single digit, so it's not like only one digit being sent wrong.

You need to determine if TiVo is actually sending the signal or not. I suspect the Pace box is just ignoring the IR signals (probably due to a bug that occurs on programme transition boundries).

Best way to tell is to use a camcorder to view TiVo's IR emitter, as these show the IR light as white light.

I had a similar problem. I tried every different solution I could think of. Believe it or not, it was cured by moving the wand 1cm to the left. Now back to 100% successful channel-changes :)

FWIW I'm using different codes with TeleWest PACE4000 and a dongle - check my sig for details.
It's also worth restarting the PACE
