Cost for Multiple Tivo in same house?

I'm thinking of joining DirecTV with the $99 deal for 2 rooms with the 35 hour Tivo and adding the hd10-250 later this summer.

I have two questions:
1) When I add the HD10-250 Tivo do I have to pay the $4.99 PER TIVO UNIT?

2) To get the $99 dollar deal I have to sign a one year committment. Will I be able to deactivate the non-Tivo receiver and activate the HD10-250 in it's place without penalty or problems?

Thanks

The $4.99 you are paying is the mirroring fee. That is the same for any unit Tivo or Non-Tivo. So any reciever you add above the first one, will be an extra $4.99

You will only pay one $4.99 DVR Fee for your account (upto 8 Tivos on one account I think is the max)

#2: Yes you can deactivate any reciever. So long as you keep one active and keep the programming package at total choice or higher.

No no no no.... :) It's $4.99 per TiVo because it's another D* receiver (HD or not). That's the 'mirror' programming charge. Period. It's also free from TiVo fees if you also have *any* other TiVo, the $5 (approx) fee TiVo covers all Tivos in your house. If you have Total Choice Premier, you even don't pay this $5.

Swapping receivers should be no problem.

Edit: Gawd, I'm tired of Earl typing faster than me. Earl, do you have pre-coded answers ready to copy/paste? :D

No, no pre coded answers... Just a 125ish word a minute typing speed...
And a bordem level at work that keeps me refreshing for "easy mark" posts... :D

I have one of the original DirecTv Tivos (with a lifetime sub). I am in the 2nd wave of HD Tivos. I know that I won't have to pay another lifetime or monthly Tivo fee with the HD Tivo.

If I were to pick up a stand alone Tivo, would I have to pay an Tivo fees with that?? I'm thinking of a stand alone for another room.

Yes, you would have to pay full monthly or lifetime. The standalone fees have nothing to do with D*

Just to be clear...

If you have Total Choice with locals ($39.99/mo):

One DirecTivo in use: $39.99 + $4.99 (DVR)
Two DirecTivos in use: $39.99 + $4.99 (DVR) + $4.99 (mirror fee)
Three DirecTivos in use: $39.99 + $4.99 (DVR) + $4.99 (mirror fee) + $4.99 (mirror fee)

bkdtv, if those lines are *total* charges per your one home account, then yes, but it's a bit confusing on first read. :D
