Well this is my official first thread. I am patiently wait on a 80gb hard drive to swap out on my HDVR. My quetion to the masses is will my showcases in particularly the SOD functionality remain untouched?

I'm not sure what SOD stands for, nor do I know what your "showcases" are, but swapping a larger hard drive or adding an additional hard drive to a TiVo (I have done both) will not alter any functionality in any respect.

How long will you be wait?

SOD is "Starz on Demand" and showcase is the functionality that enables you to get SOD through Directv Central. Hopefully the new hard drive will arrive this week.

Yes Showcases should be fine with your upgraded TiVo provided it worked fine with the stock TiVo. Showcases work fine on my upgraded TiVos but don't always work right on my stock TiVos. For many of us Showcases are a hit or miss feature but I don't use it anyway, just check on it when reading about complaints.

upgrade sucessful- I was able to upgrade my HDVR2 to a 80bg hard drive without may suprises. The only problem I incurred was the dreaded error "51" which caused me to clear and delete everything. Current TIVo version was sucessfully downloaded. Everything seems to be functioning ok. Those of you who are thinking about upgrade it's easy as pie. I was able to remove and install within 15 mins and began the setup. Honestly I was really nervous because of some of the threads posted. Wheeeeee!
