I have lost my remote and need a replacement. They sell several on ebay, but they are not from the same model. They look exactly identical. Will any tivo remote work on any Tivo model?

They seem to. I am mid-upgrade and have successfully used my Philips Series1 remote with my new Series2 Tivo and vice-versa.

AFAIK, except Sony thought. The Peanut remotes I believe are cross compatible.

Basically, Sony and Toshiba units have their own remotes. All others are compatible, but the newer units have 32 button remotes, adding a few buttons to the older peanut design. The Pioneer remote is also compatible, and older remotes work with it, but that unit has some DVD features that can best be accessed with the Pioneer remote.

D* sells the latest peanut remote on their website for $20. If I remember, the shipping charge was only a couple dollars.
