24 - 04/27/04 - Spoilers

"Chloe - I'm getting real tired of your personality!" - Tony - LOL!

Saunders picking up Michelle was unexpected.

The big question is what happened with Kim at the RR crossing? I was almost certain she was about to be kidnapped - again!

Can't wait for next week!

EDIT: Fixed the quote I didn't have quite right.

Posted by: Graymalkin

I think the writers were using misdirection there. They made us think that Kim and Saunders' daughter were about to be kidnapped -- when it was really Michelle who was nabbed.

So Saunders has moles in NIH or NCS or whatever agency the medical people come from? Geez. And for a minute there, I thought Chloe was turning into yet another Saunders mole by getting Adam away from the satellite feed with a bogus charge. But then Adam admitted he goofed, so...

I'd bet that motorcycle rider is just an ordinary guy and nothing will happen to Kim. Except, of course, this is 24, so all bets are off.

Posted by: Frank_M

That's two weeks in a row they've teased us with a "uh oh, Kim's about to get kidnapped" trick.

Next week, as Kim is walking back into CTU, I bet a cougar comes by... and attacks Saunders' daughter! :-)

Posted by: Hippster

Now that Kim is armed, dangerous and not afraid to use it - the cougar might be the one who should be afraid.

Not quite! :D

Pretty good episode! I'm getting pretty tired of Chloe as well.

Posted by: zync

So was that Hoshi (Linda Park - from Enterprise) in the bio suit handing out the test results? Sure looked and sounded like her.

Hmmm - no hit in IMDB or tvtome - guess not.

Not me. Chloe cracks me up! She is so weird, she provides comic relief. (Of course so does Kim, and Sherrie, and Palmer, etc., etc., etc. :D)

:) This time they even went into commercial with the viewers collectively rolling their eyes saying "here we go again." It's almost an in-joke from the writers now....

Tony turned into a wuss quick. Sure, sacrifice Chappelle and put Kim in harm's way but when asked to sacrifice Michelle (who was 90% dead earlier anyway) he folds like a cheap tent.

And even with the movement to the front of the building there were NO eyes on the back door?

Overall......

Posted by: devdogaz

So do we believe that Michelle really isn't infected? Or was that simply a way to get her out of the building so Saunders could have her kidnapped?

Well, Saunders' henchmen weren't wearing protective clothing. (In fact it looked like the same black van gang from last week) I'm not saying you're theory is wrong -- they may have been immunized.

I think Saunders' daughter still knows more than she's telling.

I thought the same thing -- very good job at misleading us into thinking Kim was going to get abducted yet again

Personally, I can't until the girls car breaks down at the RR Crossing and they have to wander into the woods until they find a mysterious guy who takes him back to his shack and lets them take showers...that's the scene I am waiting for :D If the cougar happens as well, that's fine.

Posted by: CraigEagle

Not sure it means anything but I watch 24 with Closed Captioning on and every time they said that Saunders had contacted his daughter 4 years ago the closed captioning said 2 years. Usually when that happens it is because a last minute change was made to the audio (overdubbing, looping, etc.). Could have to do with a future episode but I cant think of how.

Everyone wants to be in on a Code 9!

Regarding the Chloe comments, I'm hoping more and more she is here next year. I didn't like her at first but she is the tattletale everyone loves to hate and since some of her stuff is legit, it makes it interesting for sure. I'll leave it up to the women to comment, (and I'm not qualified to make a true evaluation) but the closeups of Adam were making me sick, that boy is just butt ugly and he disturbs me for some reason.

Where's the baby during all this? I forget. Under Kim's desk? Eaten by a cougar?

Posted by: brott

When Chloe turned in Adam, my first thought was that Adam was a Mole and was having second thoughts now that his sister is dying. Then, it turned to .. Chloe is a Mole and is pulling Adam away from his console (so Saunders can walk away unnoticed).

I think it was totally unbelievable that CTU whould send Saunder's daughter to CTU with nothing more than Kim and 2 other agents. She is their ONLY advantage with Saunder's and there is no way they wouldn't take more precautions.

I did like the misdirection though.

Something unbelievable on 24? Ridiculous. Everything is absolutely true to life - just as everything is happening in "real time" :D

Posted by: e30mpwrd

So how did Suanders formulate this kidnap Michelle plan so quickly? There is no way he could have known in advance that she would be exposed to the virus at the hotel, be immune to it and be sent over to wherever they were supposed to take her for evaluation (or was that part his ploy?). Even if Saunders has a mole in the CDC, her test results could only have been available for an hour or so.

He didn't just turn into a wuss, he committed treason. I'm still not sure that I buy that nearly losing Michelle would send him over the edge to the point that he'd risk millions of lives to save hers.

Well, it's pretty obvious from this episode that Saunders has total real-time access to CTU's system, including their satellite telemetry and personnel files...

No, it's pretty obvious that Saunders is either a Big Bad left over from "Buffy" or a reincarnation of The Source from "Charmed."

Or he's Satan, causing a little cross-network mischief before he makes his first appearance on "Joan of Arcadia" in the season finale cliffhanger, "The First Temptation of Joan."

Or he's the older brother of Jack on "Tru Calling."

Or -- well, you get the idea. He knows all and sees all.

Good episode. It's amazing how much better this show has been lately than it was earlier in the season. Pres' girlfriend scandal? The baby? Sherrie manslaughter (it looks like this one's not over)? Those are some lame ass filler stories. I wish they would just focus on the good stuff.

You were supposed to forget about all that stuff, it's fox!

I agree the spoiler for next week looked good. His wife is always looking out for herself and the prez was stupid to let her back in the inner circle.

Wait, over there, in the train car....is that...yes it is....it's a cougar and it escaped from the circus car and is jumping towards Kim's car at the RR crossing...nnooooo!!!!!!!!!

Shouldn't Ford give Kim a vintage Mercury Cougar to drive?

Oh, wait, the Ford product placement deal is with Alias. Never mind.

Hasn't Ford paid for the 1st episode to be broadcast commercial free the last 2 seasons?

And American Idol. But I do watch to see what brand of SUV they use in shows like this. I'd think cars have to be the oldest product placement out there.

Posted by: Frank_M

I'm surprised Tony didn't offer to trade Chloe for Michelle. And he could throw in some of the other random CTU people (and a role of tape for Chloe's mouth) to even the deal.

Speaking of which, who are these other people always buzzing about CTU but never seem to be doing anything regarding this case?

What are they working on... something else? "Hey Jim, I know there's a virus running around the city that could wipe out much of the country, but if I don't get my A-15 forms done by Friday, Division is going to have a bird!"

Posted by: HTH

Unfortunately my Series1 TiVo failed to retain its recording of this episode. Recording History reports "internal error: 4".

I know it had recorded some of it as I'd cued it up to the initial disclaimer before deleting Navy NCIS and taking the cat out for his walk. If I'd just stayed in and watched TiVo I wouldn't have to be pulling the episode down from suprnova.org. But come 10 PM CDT, it was gone.

More like, "You take Chloe off my hands, and I'll let you release the virus in San Francisco."

Actually, maybe CTU could threaten to release Chloe on Saunders' daughter. If he really can see what's going on in CTU, that would scare the heck out of him.

So you don't like or believe all those things such as: open up socket to soniaslingerie.com, google the top secret codeword logs to division, and make sure the past 6 hours of video from the ATM in the company kitchen are matched up against todays known lists of secret superspies via the Griffen system and use the valet (from the hit show Las Vegas) to send everything to division just as soon as possible or else we will be shut down!

I wonder if the people at the CIA laugh at this stuff.

What was the IP Address that Saunders gave Tony to see the Michelle Webcam?
Did anyone check it out yet?
It sounded like a valid IP.
I thought they would have used a bogus private IP, you know, sort of like the old 555 with phone numbers.

Posted by: Schrades

I vaguley remember the IP address beginning with 257, which would make it invalid.

I believe the first octet of the IP address was 257, which makes it invalid (highest legit number is 254).

Probably ford.com. :D

Ford did do product placements in 24. I had forgotten about that, as Alias's placement was so egregious.

So get Kim that Mercury Cougar! :)

Whoa. You walk your cat?

Posted by: bluenoise

I couldn't understand why Kim and Saunders' daughter were being transported alone in plain view, either. That really bugged me. I didn't think the motorcyclist was going to kidnap the girls, but I expected him to open fire on the car, killing the extra(s) in the front seats before Kim takes him out with her gun. Of course, the radio in the car would be dead and her cell phone wouldn't come into play, so the two of them would be running on the loose and crouching behind dumpsters like she did in the second season with the little girl.

Best line of the season: "Chloe, I'm getting really tired of your personality." It is easily as good as, "Get me a hacksaw."

It was SylivasImports.com which doesn't work :(

What about the Witch Doctor on Aqua Teen Hungerforce this week... I don't remember what his name was.

It was BobWitchDoctor.com or something where "bob" was his name.

Christina Chang

I remember her mostly from, oddly enough, a short-lived series about a covert team to solve major "hot zone" like disesases if my memory is right. I believe I saw it on continuous rerun on Sci-Fi.

I have to admit, it is effective! Were it not for my stupid HOA restrictions, my next vehicle would be an F-150 24 Edition (OK - that doesn't exist (yet) - but the black SuperCrew with the gray trim on the bottom).

OMG, I've heard about painting your house a certain color, keeping your grass 1.5 centimeters, and no basketball nets in your driveway but they can tell you what kind of vehicle to drive????? What's next, what clothing you can hang out on the line?

Sorry, that's insane. But to be fair, you chose to live there totally voluntarily right? :) I do have one question. Can you have a dog owner kicked out if the dog barks too much?

Posted by: cwoody222

A friend of mine lived in Kansas City in a subdivision whose HOA made it against the rules for dogs to bark. You could have a dog... but it couldn't bark.

Seriously.

He says it was like living in Stepford.

You bastard!!! :) You almost make me want to join one of these horrible organizations now! My neighbor has gotten better in the past year (maybe after my wife made a sympathetic comment thru our window directed at the dog in the owner's presence last year :) ) but I still don't like the way he does his dog letting out. It's weird, you will go days at a time with nothing, then for 4 hours during the night woof woof.

I liked the message on the 24 spoof site. They had to know a zillion people would go on it. Nice to see they thought of us and didn't throw a ton of ads in our face etc. To me, that was classy.

I can't wait for Sherry to rat out the prez next week. I think he will wind up injecting her with the virus. Also Erin's letting the prez stay in LA was totally not cool. He wasn't doing his job and if he outranked the prez, he should have hauled his ass to air force one for safety.

Posted by: IndyJones1023

Perhaps Saunders does have a mole in the health dept. Probably the asian chick, since she's had so much screen time. And instead of "testing her blood," the mole innoculated Michelle so she'd be safe - and available as a hostage should the need arise...?

the only problem with that is that Michelle would have already been exposed to the virus. It would have actually had to have been a cure rather than just an innoculation to be safe.

Posted by: IndyJones1023

OK, I'm not a doctor, I only play one on TC. Switch "innoculation" with "cure" in my original post and you know what I was getting at. I mean, if I was some terrorist like Saunders, there is no way I would release a virus like that and be in the same city without an antidote.

No she was the doctor earlier when they had the fake bio hazard in hour three. The one is the bio suit is the same person who plays the Medical Examiner on Law and Order SVU. I was trying to place her and I noticed her while watching last weeks SVU. According to the NBS Site her name is Tamara Tunie. Can't confirm on IMDB. It lists here as being on during season one but nothing about this year.

Man 24 just dropped the ball, did anyone else play BMW's "Uncap The Ride" a couple of years ago, It was a cool net based scavenger hunt that started with random website placements in the "Driver" films, and ads in a few car mags. In the end they gave away a Z4. why couldn't Fox and Ford get together to give away a new F150

I wonder how those HOAs get along with the Sierra Club and other "save the world" causes -- asking their home owners to use up consummable resources so they can beautify their own personal environment just seems so un-environmentally friendly :D

Maybe that will be where 24 goes next year -- they'll have to come up with something more outrageous than they've done to this point, and considering they've already use a Nuke (season 2) and Bio-hazard (season 3), you'd have to expect that season 4 will have to be something totally crazy.

Hmm, lets see, Jack Bauer must stop a group of environmentalists from sabotaging a major oil pipeline and causing economic ruin during the election cycle. I can just see it now.

-- plot line copyright 2004, bdowell, all rights reserved, plot line available to creators/producers of 24 in exchange for a nice Ford motor vehicle product :D

Predictions for Day 4. Either a prequel (I'm sure someone has already suggested that on these boards somewhere) with Jacks original mission against Drazen (could bring back Nina, the CIA guy that reminded me of Clancy's Clark character, George Mason, etc. Even Palmer could be in it. Would be fun to see Nina as a mole that doesnt get caught...), or a "small" story-- a threat against the life of the Prez (I know, Day 1 sorta did that), Something up within CTU-- something of that scale. After nukes and bio-threats, cant really raise the bar.

Ooh-- just thought of another one-- some sort of massive economic sabotage of the US. Making that compelling on TV would be tough, though.

OR, maybe Kim will get kidnapped.

Posted by: pmyers

I'd bet on a prequel.

Posted by: Graymalkin

In Day 4, Jack will take on his most dangerous and ruthless enemy yet -- the HOA that fines Kim when she appears on the back deck wearing a wet T-shirt and thong and sells her to Maxim, which exploits her ruthlessly with one pictorial after another. (Call it "white lace slavery.")

In the end, the HOA board will be revealed to be the "German Group."

Posted by: gchance

Tamara Tunie's been in a lot of things, most notably topless in The Devil's Advocate. ;) "Real or not? Go ahead, touch them."

Off the top of my head I can't remember what character she played in the first season, but she was in multiple episodes. It wasn't her in the bio-suit... Tamara Tunie is black.

Yes, that web game leading up to AI was awesome. I was much more interested in the story that went along with that game than the plot of the movie.

My predicition/wish for Day 4 is a prequel that shows the mission where Jack and Saunders went after the Drazens in Kosovo. Only problem with that is we would know all the major characters live.

Worked for Apollo 13

Posted by: tomlouie

And the Star Wars prequels.

(Although, one could argue that the prequels have so far sucked...)

Tom

Posted by: devdogaz

But that's the beauty of 24. Any character can die at any time. I love the idea of us seeing that mission and finding out more about Jack's backstory, but I'm just not sure how much suspense there would be since we know Jack thought his whole team died, and they killed Drazen's family but not him. Basically, any character they introduce that's not been in the other three seasons would die and how much fun is that to watch?

If I may be so presumptuous, I believe scooterboy's Whoa still stands.

1. Apparently, there is a spool....

2. You walk your cat???? I have NEVER seen that EVER [but if I was a girl, I would almost think it was interesting (alright, if I was really a girl, I'd probably say cute) that you cared enough about your cat to walk him].

At the end of the show, they showed the car that Kim and Saunder's daughter is in moving again. So I doubt anything is going to happen to them, it was just made to look that way.

Earlier in the episode, Saunders was hinting at the fact he was planning to nab someone. I think he said something like "has she left yet" or something like that. I had a feeling it was going to be Michelle.

Time to catjack this thread again -- there definitely are harnesses for walking cats. You can't use a collar like you can for dogs, because cats can wiggle out of those in no time flat. You've got to use one of those harnesses that cross over the chest and behind the front legs.

Here's one example.
