directivo freezes for no reason

during use of direct tivo unit it freezes.did upgrade 6 months ago been working great. have 80 and 120 meg.
i have to reboot the unit and it works fine .didi this 4 times in 2 weeeks
any suggestions?
is it the motherboard?
i think it might still be under warranty.
should i just get a new one or is it fixable.

could be that the Hard drives are on their way out.
It happened to me some time ago, random freezes, every few days.
I checked the Drives with a Drive utility, and there were bad blocks on them already.(after only 11 months)
Replaced them, no more problems.
Check your IDE-Cables as well.

There's always a reason :-).

This is typically due to a bad hard drive. Rebooting is never the solution to the problem, but it can delay the inevitable in some cases. Best bet is to pull the drives and run manufacturer's diagnostics on them as soon as possible. If its not the drives, take a look at the IDE cable, that can sometimes be the culprit.
