CSI 4/30 Dead Ringer

Ok, I was a little slow guessing how the drug got into the runners system, but as soon as they said the concentration wasn't high enough in the bottle I knew it had to be the power bar.

On a side note Steven Culp certainly gets around; Clayton Web on JAG, Major Hayes on Enterprise, The SES guy on CSI, Rep./Speaker Haffley on West Wing.

Anyone else notice that they keep dropping hints about Grissom leaving? At the end of this ep the guy in jail says something to him like "just wait until you're replaced" or something like that.

I had read somewhere before that William Peterson had said that he didn't plan to stay with the show more than 5 seasons. Well, next season is season 5.

Yes, Petersen has been making noise that he will be gone after his contract is up.

I thought it was pretty unimaginitive to have the guy stick a pill in a power bar. How many people would eat that and not notice the difference in texture while chewing? That's the point where the episode became pretty stupid for me.

Also, what was the dead-cheating cop doing with his shirt off while that girl was in the room if he wasn't hooking up with her?

You forgot playing a teacher and one of Elizabeth's current flings on ER.

But yeah, I was thinking the same thing about him.

THAT'S where I've seen that name before. Thanks, I've been trying to figure that one out. :)

yup. I noticed the same thing. Commented about it after the show - this seems to be the 3rd or 4th time they've mentioned him leaving.

I thought I read somewhere that William Peterson was not happy about the new CSI:New York series. He was complaining that all the spin-offs were diluting the quality of the original, and that was why he was not going to come back when his contract was done.

If Grissom leaves, I ain't watching anymore.

And how about how they lifted that "ATM Scam" subplot almost word-for-word directly from this page: http://www.utexas.edu/admin/utpd/atm.html

But they do "ripped from the headlines" all the time. I have no problem with that...

As for Grissom leaving, I am skeptical as well. But I also remember when David Caruso (whatever happened to him, anyway?) left NYPD Blue. Despite everybody's assumption that the show would go into the toilet, it actually became better than ever. So IF he leaves, and IF he's replaced, I'll wait to pass judgment on the show without him until there actually IS a show without him.

if he leave i willl stop wacthing. I said the same thing about ER if Wyle leaves but the show got stupid before he left

Yeah, I know, but at least they could have VARIED it even a little.. Like putting the camera in that wide-angle mirror above the ATM which looked "tacked-on" and totally out of place (perhaps that's where the real ATM camera is?). And don't you think the "perp" would have left as soon as the CSI showed up, and perhaps left QUIETLY?! He would never have been caught. I did like the 70's style pimp-mobile car he was driving though - the real stereotype of a loser/crook/hacker. It looked like an episode of "The Rockford Files". ;)

The "girl"\woman went up to the guys room to warn him that the other woman's husband was in the hotel, at the bar. That's why the guy who was shoot by his wife told her, "It's not what it seems!". Or, looks like. Something like that.

Grissom is my favorite character and CSI Miami IS bringing down the quality standard for the show and givng CSI a bad name. But I'm still looking forward to CSI New York since they have such a great cast, so we'll see where that and the possibly Grissom-less CSI goes.

Anyone else notice that the ATM, in the over-the-shoulder shots, was monstrously different than the closeup shots? The computer screen was entirely different. I can live with slight editing glitches, but that one sucked.

And just for the record, I love CSI: Miami but I do think they're going with the spinoffs too fast-L&O had been on the air for years before they brought in another flavor.

I tolerate Caruso in CSI Miami since the rest of the cast is good and generally the stories are good. I watched it first and added CSI later. I did not watch the first three years as I thought the gore factor was a bit over the top. I went back and gave it a second chance after liking the miami version and they seem to have reduced the really gory stuff a bit.

Personally, Grissom doesn't seem too important to me. It is an ensemble cast no one person is essential. I think WP has too high and opinion of himself just as Caruso did in the NYPD days. He should shut up and cash the checks. What a whiny little loser.

I think the exact opposite. He honestly doesn't seem to care about the money or the fame; he only cares about the work. That's why he never became a major star (as he was supposed to in the wake of Manhunter).

His concern with the show isn't that HE isn't getting enough attention. It's that the creative energy of the show's makers is being diluted between two, and soon three, shows, and he fears that the show will suffer as a result. I think it's a reasonable concern (thus not "whiny"). He's certainly carved out the career he wants (thus not "loser"). And while he's lost a lot of weight lately, I certainly wouldn't call him "little," but I'll bet he'd be flattered...

While I do agree that CSI is a show that doesn't particularly emphasize one character as it's star I do believe the Peterson brings ALOT to the table as Grissom. Also, aside from Greg, Grissom brings the NERD factor to CSI and that has alot to do with why I like this show.

One of the things I am starting to dislike about the new season is that there are few character-based story lines. No more Grissom storyline, no more Sara, Nick, Warrick, Kathering, GREG, etc., storylines.

I liked the earlier episodes where, along with actually doing their jobs, tidbits of their personal lives would get mixed in.

They are still doing it on CSI: Miami because you have the whole Caruso's sister-in-law thinking he has a daughter thing. You have Callie's father. Speed's latent homosexuality. Okay, maybe that last one is just something I've picked up on from clues.

Although I am anxiously awaiting Gary Sinise's performance in CSI Miami I think that maybe Peterson has a very valid concern.

Posted by: henryhank

Yeah, I'd love to see more of the "Grissom/Lady Heather" sub-plot.

I agree. (Not about the whiny little loser part, but the rest. :D) I'm wondering if maybe this is a product of coming to the show in the later years. I also didn't watch the first three years but have watched almost all the episodes this season.

Maybe if I had watched more episodes earlier, I'd see it differently, but at least right now, Grissom is not a pivotal role. Frankly, it anything Marg seems to be the center right now.

 Interesting... Please elaborate. I hadn't noticed that.
