CSI or CSI: Miami

So whats the better show? I havent really beeen watching either but I wanted to start since I got the new HD Tivo and both these shows are broadcast in HD...
I did watch one ep of CSI: Miami, I liked the whole thing except David Caruso was so poorly written and his acting sucks...besides him it was good though....maybe I should go for the original CSI...thoughts?

Definitely CSI. I like CSI: Miami well enough, but David Caruso does suck, so you have to try and tune him out. The stories are not bad too, but the cast and the stories on CSI are just much better.
I know you said you want to watch in HD, but I would also recommend catching up on CSI from the beginning. I forget which network reruns it, but I know that last year we watched the first couple seasons that we missed...I think it was on TNT.

The originals always seem to be better dont they? Seems like everyone agrees with you...
I'll check out CSI...set up a season pass for the HD version and maybe I'll get some old ones too if I get in to it...
Thanks!

Reason CSI is better than CSI: Miami? William Peterson! Plus, Gil Grissom is more interesting than Horatio Caine.
Posted by: Frylock
CSI: Miami is bad due to Caruso solving everything. He may as well fire everyone else, because he clearly knows all. Grissom is great because he is smart, but creepy, so it works. He's also not cocky like Horatio.
But watch I beleive the CSI: Miami in 2 weeks for the preview of the characters on CSI: NY.

CSI, definately. I'm in the minority, though--I like David Caruso's character. Miami, IMO, slips because of the outlandishness of the cases. CSI has some oddball stuff, but Miami is regularly over the top.

I'm not a big fan of either show (and only started watching CSI after trying a couple of shows originally due to HDTV), but I really don't like Miami at all.
Amazing--19 to 0 right now. I wonder if Miami is long for this world.

There are only two reasons why I watch CSI: Miami -- Emily Procter and Sofia Milos.

Emily Procter looks relatively like hell on that show for some reason. Maybe they want it to be more realistic and she's willing to appear natural looking.

Of course I hate the Caruso character, but I also hate the M.E., the Khandi Alexander character. The way she talks to the bodies annoys me.

I couldn't take Caruso so I quit watching Miami weeks into the season.

Ok, who voted for Miami? Fess up someone. You can just say your mouse slipped. ;)

ditto. My only question is how come none of the women I work with dress like they do here and on CSI? Or Kim D on CSI (or 10.5 for that matter).
Why? Why? Why?
BTW, BOB, I was one who voted for Miami, for the reasons noted here and in the other CSI thread.

I watched the pilot for CSI:Miami that showed on CSI and I hated it. I have watched a few of the shows but really don't care for CSI:Miami.
Oddly, I hated the pilot for Navy NCSI and I like the show.

Both shows give the CSI's WAYYY too much lattitude, but in Miami, it seems that DC is the Chief of Police! One of the first season eps, the cops are staking out a boat and can see through infrared that someone is leaning over someone else. They are afraid that the one leaning over is going to kill the one laying down. The raking policeman on site orders the sniper to shoot and DC contradicts the order and prevents the sniper from shooting. I rolled my eyes so hard they almost fell out, I canceled my SP shortly thereafter.

Yeah,
Some VERY harsh lighting on her makes her VERY unattactive. Same thing they seem to be doing to the actress playing Jamie Stringer on "The Practice."

CSI by far. I watch both shows but after nearly two seasons, I still can't tell the two guys on Miami apart and I can't stand the way Caruso delivers his lines. I watch a lot of TV and Miami is on the bubble. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be watching it.

I think the whole point is CSI: Miami is a comic book for television. Look at the photography, the acting, the directing (what little there is of it). I think it's meant to be a spoof. Anybody who talks to dead bodies is a caricature... or at least in a movie with Bruce Willis.

CSI is the best. I watch CSI:Miami but only because I really like this genre. Caruso sucks. I will never understand the Emmy nominations. I LOVED Quincy, M.D. when it was on as well. Count me as watching CSI: NY, too.

You must not like the coroner on Navy NCIS either, then? :)

your poll is slightly flawed....
there should have been an option for "I like them both". You have "I dislike them both", so you're predisposing your results.

I like them both the same. Maybe the orginal, a little bit more, but I really do love both of the series. When CSI:Miami first came on the air, I saw it as a cheap rip off, but the more I watched it the more I liked it an it grew on me.

Hey, I was gonna say that! I just love Emily "Bullet Girl" Proctor! Always have since I first saw her on "The West Wing". And my wife thinks that Sophia Milos is the hottest woman ever on tv!

Sorry about the poll...I am forcing you fence sitters to make a decision!

The photography in both CSI and CSI: Miami looks good in HDTV, but the plots of CSI: Miami are mostly idiotic.
Last week CSI: Miami had a photo where the killer was a blurry shadow of about 4 pixels, but with "digital enhancement" they could see the scratch on the killer's hand. That allowed them to make an arrest because their suspect had a scratch on his hand.
You get the impression that CSI: Miami has no techinical consultants.
I never thought of it before, but maybe Video-Idiot is right that CSI: Miami is supposed to be a spoof of a crime show.

I watch CSI (and Navy NCIS) for the casts. The solution to the puzzles don't matter to me nearly so much as the path the characters take to arrive there.
With both I tuned in because of particular actors yet came to like the rest of the cast pretty quickly.
CSI:Miami -- I just can't stand David Caruso, and since he hogs all the action, well, that's all she wrote. After a few shows, I was outta there.
I wanted to watch it to see Emily Proctor, but I just couldn't. Sorry, babe. :(

Why is CSI: Miami still on the air? It seems like no one likes it!
Posted by: YCantAngieRead
I like it. But that could be because the original is in a time slot that I find harder to watch.
I agree that David Caruso's character is comic-book-ish. "What we have here is....MURDER!" It's almost like a B-Movie. And Emily Proctor may be beautiful, but she's a lousy actor in this series.
Still, there's something about Miami that I like more. I can't put my finger on it. But if you want people to fess up for voting for it, it wasn't me because I haven't even voted yet. :D

I prefer CSI but CSI:Miami has some good episodes to watch in HD: Like the ones set in the everglades - the "hunters" episode, on last week, I think?

Thats the one episode I saw of CSI :Miami and it really bothered me. I mean there are so many shows that have that stupid Digital enhancement of a picture...you cant do that!.... the whole premise of how they caught that guy was flawed.
Then Caruso...ugh..."Looks like he just went from good samaritan to...SUSPECT." please.

I knew the voting would turn out like this, but i'm surprised that Miami got as many votes as it did. Man I hate that show with a passion.

Dittos!
Caruso's "acting", his omniscience, the idiotic talking to the corpses and the stupid plots. It is terrible.
-philw (loves CSI:LV, Grissom and the gap toothed babe)

What else is watchable from 9:00 to 10:00 CST on monday night? MNF will probably kill this show (I'm betting only TiVo'ers will still watch it)
