I really hate Saunders... but I want to strangle Sherry Palmer right now!!!!
Posted by: njtaz
Oh man!!! Another really good episode. Saunders really is a bastard, but Tony is pissing me off too.
Posted by: scooterboy
Tony is soooo fired (or worse). Michelle is a federal agent who knew the risks going into the job. Breaking protocol for her is not even the same as Jack doing the same for Kim in the first two seasons.
Posted by: bobjohnson
Only 3 more hours for Kim to get kidnapped in. Call me an optimist, but I know if anyone can do it, she can.

She was kidnapped last week.
I take it as a sign of her personal growth as a human being and a CTU agent that it only lasted a couple of minutes...
(And I sure hope your irony detectors are working!)

This Tony thing is getting a little ridiculous. But I'm still lovin' the show! Hopefully this year Sherry will die, as her on screen is just sickening at this point. And not in a deliciously good way. She really veers the show off into soap opera-ishness. The sooner she's written off the show the better.
Posted by: Graymalkin
Although it would be a MAJOR cliche, I'm so hoping Sherry gets a good dose of the virus and dives out a 50th-story windows and goes SPLAT!

I was disappointed with this episode. The whole Tony and Michelle storyline is ridiculous, as is the Sherry one. I liked the previous two weeks' episodes a lot better.
I wish this show took itself more seriously. It's a bit too cheesy for my tastes.

Couldn't agree more. While it's hard not to watch every week, the story lines just keep getting sillier and sillier.

Great episode. And have some faith in Tony, he's just doing what Jack taught him in seasons 1 and 2! Bonus prediction: Tony will be instrumental in catching Saunders, and all will be forgiven.
Posted by: MacThor
My girlfriend, who doesn't regularly watch the show, did so with me last night. She made the following observation that I thought was spot on:
During the scene where Sherry is talking to Keeler and trying to turn ex-husband into ex-president -- "So.....she's Omarosa?"
Posted by: pmyers
The problem with the Sherry Palmer character is that I don't even love to hate her....I just hate her whole character.
Posted by: dschwab
Omarosa only wishes she could be as evil Sherry, the original b*tch with attitude.

And will Jack be pardoned for the breakout also? heck, I thought sherry would say that if the other guy got to be prez, that he could pardon her THEN be a part of his cabinet. I guess they forgot to mention the pardoning part because not too many currently serving politicans are actually in jail, they are still on the outside!
I'm glad they had backup logs of the satellite shots. I was thinking at the time the pictures were deleted that the amount of times they sent over the secret codes etc to division (it seemed like every 10 minutes), they sure better figure out who deleted the pictures. That it was one of 97 people was nuts. Surely they would have unique passwords to each user right? c'mon.
I'm glad the motorcycle thing turned out to be nothing with Kim but I can't believe the daughter made it to ctu with only 2 measly guards. Saunders what's the matter with you? EZ targets for sure.
And why didn't Michelle try to escape? They didn't show any attempts and I find that hard to believe, knowing who she is married to. And why did they even take the hood off her? I thought it would be more sinister to keep it on.
I think the whole incident will cinch the presidency for palmer the 2nd term. Don't ask me how but I bet it will. Of course they could wait until November and really see what happens in real life and make a story change if they wanted to shake things up. Or have palmer assassinated or infected by the secret vial of the virus hidden in the phone Saunders gave him. (I should write for 24 :) )
Posted by: pmyers
And now they want me to believe that Kim's car had 2 SUV escorts? That must have been the worse escort in history! ;)

On Sherry: Her plan was to blackmail Palmer into stepping out of the race. The news of the murder would not reach the public so there would be no need to pardon.
On the Password: I believe they mentioned that a generic password was used so they couldn't trace it to a particular user.

Yes, I believe that is what they said. So in this "high-security" networked system, they have "guest" accounts, or does everyone just have the root password. Come on, that's security 101.

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
from the previews it looks like Michelle does try to fight back next week.
I'm kinda surprised that the mole this season ended up being Tony and I'm really surprised at how he just disregarded the entire day's work and let Saunders walk out of the building (and was it just me or did it seem like he was trying to blame Adam, with all Tony's side glances and "Chloe is better" crap)

While I agree about Sherry (let her die already!!), I disagree about Tony and Michelle though. I think it goes along with the story well since I don't believe Tony would be doing this if he hadn't already been faced with the possiblity that she was going to die already from the virus. Once he found out that she was not infected, I can imagine that he felt like he would do anything in his power to keep Michelle safe.
Saunders played off that by using her as a pawn to get himself and his daughter out of a bind. Tony was still so flustered by the feelings of nearly losing Michelle that he complied without thinking. Once he called off the troops to let Saunders escape, he is now faced with the impossible task of covering his tracks. It's all snowballed from there.
A little over the top? Sure! But this is 24 we are talking about here! I find it very believable though and I think the writers have done a terrific job in the second half of the season.
Back on Sherry for a sec... Is her storyline REALLY needed? I think there are enough things going on without having to worry about the election right now. It's the furthest thing from Palmer's mind and the viewers' as well. Bad move here.

What exactly does Sherry have to implicate Palmer - all she mentioned was Milliken's prescription bottle with her fingerprints on it. Doesn't seem like enough to prove she was there at the time of his death and prevent him from getting his needed medicine. We know the video of her has been deleted, and I don't think Milliken's wife would even be credible.
Is this just a case of a needed suspension of disbelief?

Good point. I've given up analyzing anything they do with computers on this show. Even with my limited knowledge, I know that most of the crap they do with computers is impossible or unlikely. I just go with it and don't let it distract me.

You'd need one of those 25-story cranes to suspend the amount of disbelief required to watch the Sherry subplot.
Friend of mine suggested that Michelle is the mole. I'm not sure I buy that one.

I think that's proof enough that Palmer lied to the police. Now if I were Palmer I'd just say "well I thought she was here while I was up all night dealing with the red alert status and biological weapon attack on our nation I wasn't keeping tabs on her the whole time."

I kept falling asleep and scrolling back and then because I was only half awake I still missed a lot. But what I saw stunk.
Where is the virus? Did they just forget that part of LA is under quarantine? Why would the candidate for President even listen to Sherry? Would you want her on your staff?
Posted by: Incognito
Tony should of went to Jack for help <after he did what he did> ... I mean how many times has Jack broken the rules? Especially for Kim or his wifes sake.

Does anybody remember/know what they did with Chase's baby?
Posted by: dschwab
Chase/Chloe's baby is off somewhere with Palmer's girlfriend, Jack's heroin addiction, and the Russian in the woods (oops, wrong show)

Isn't that what they're using to hold Chapelle's katra until they can get to the Genesis Device? :)

The baby was sent over to the CIA to be the receptacle for Milo Rambaldi's reincarnation. It's actually Chase and Sydney Bristow's baby. Don't you know anything?

Well, judging by next weeks previews:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
the other candidate follows Sherry's plan. Obviously the guy's an idiot.

I had to laugh out loud at this dialog in the scene after Tony drives away from CTU:
[Jack] Have security lock down the entire building!
[Jack to Adam] Adam, I want every Sat within range trained on us. I want to know everything that's exiting this building.
[Jack to Security Guard, just standing there!!] Who's watching Jane Saunders?
[Security Guard, calmly!!] Both guards are down. She's gone!
Yeah, Security Guard notices that both guards are down, Jane is gone and he just stands there waiting for Jack to ask his question...LOL.

I also laughed at this. It was just an awkward conversation and then the guard didn't seem upset about it at all....the high-security lockdown we had on her was compromised, oh well. lol

Sinister, yes. But why cover up a face like that when it could be on TV?? :D

More than enough to convict Palmer in the court of public opinion, I think.
Same effect.

What's next for the opposing candidate:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
"Ha! I showed that bastard Palmer who's boss. I think I'll go for a nice little drive around Los Angeles now while I wait for him to capitulate. Sure was nice of Sherry Palmer to come along for the ride. Wonder what all that yellow tape is for? Hey, you stupid lackey National Guardsman, get the hell out of my way, I'm a US Senator!" .

I thought the ep was great in all areas!! :)...
... on a side note, I can see this happening /w Michelle: In a couple hours we'll see blood dripping from Michelle's nose. Oh my F'ing god, she DOES have the virus! Saunders sees the blood and he takes a s*** in his pants. Nice way to kill the bad guys, eh? :)

My take on the whole Sherry and the Senator dude....
I'm sure I'm 100% wrong on this but I'm thinking that Sherry is doing this to ensure President Palmer wins the next election. I'm not sure how she'll reach this end game but I believe she is manipulating something that will result in the Senator stepping down within the next 3 episodes.
Posted by: newsposter
did anyone get a hint that the senator and sherry dated or something? i forget her comment but it made me think they had some sort of relationship

Wow, this is SO true it's not even funny.
"Sherry told me she was in the building, and I believed her because I was trying to save millions of US lives and stop a terrorist"
End of story.
Is Sherry that dumb to think that Palmer would step down.
"We just saved the US from biological attack, and with the help of some quick negotiating from me and my staff, we ended it with the least possible casualties......and um oh yah, I quit, but don't bother asking why, because ya know, I don't wanna be president any more."

Sherry stated that if she went to jail that Palmer would also go to jail for lying. If a certain President has taught us anything (Clinton), it's that a President can lie to anyone and not get punished. All he has to do it point the finger back at a murderer and all would be forgotten.
