I was watching "24" from February and saw a promo for Wonderfalls on its new night, Thursday.
"Yay! They brought it back," I thought.
Oh, wait....that was 2 months ago. :(

That's why you skip the commercials. :)

When our first son came home to us at the age of six, we had a hard time explaining the rules of TV. He'd be watching some program (probably Pokémon) and see a promo advertising some program that was "Coming up next!" and he didn't understand that it wasn't really going to be showing next.
Now that he's eleven, he's been doing a good job of teaching our other son (who is six) all about the wonders of TiVo and fast-forwarding through commercials.
Makes a father proud! :D

Our kids do the same thing.
They also ask if they can watch Homer, and when I tell them there aren't any recorded, they just look at me with this blank stare that says "Make it happen."

My wife did this the other night. We were watching something from January and a snow warning came on. She said "we are going to have snow?". It was about 80 that day. :D :D

I have this snowboarding event recorded, brings back memories before I broke my arm and my season was over...

Yeah, I've still got a couple of episodes from the Season One - 24 hours of 24 marathon from Labor Day '02. It hurts to watch them because they are heavily advertising for the 'brand new Fox series' Firefly.
Damn you FOX.

I've done this pre-Tivo, on occassion...once, right after I moved to Salt Lake City, I had a bunch of tapes that I'd recorded to watch when I got settled in until I got cable hooked up. We were watching something and a restaurant commercial came on, a restaurant that I loved and they didn't have in SLC.
I got really, REALLY excited, and turned to my then boyfriend and said "You're getting one! Yay!" and he then proceeded to tell me what an idiot I was.
I have also been known to go and ask for a particular special at a restaurant that hasn't been around since something I have on tape. :)

HAHAHHA, I can't believe how much Fox shows fail.

Since Angie broke into 'videotape' moments, I had a recording of the musical 1776 taped off of a regular channel.
It is a long show, and by the time I would get 2/3rds of the way through, I'd often forget that it was on tape. Then, there would be a 'news flash': "The US has shot down an Iranian passenger airliner. Details at 11", and I kept thinking, "Oh no, not again!". Even 10 years after the fact.
I own a real version now, to avoid that issue.

When I was a kid I was fooled by a tornado warning on a tape. I felt really foolish after. I was so young and gullible that even though I knew I was watching a tape, I didn't realize that weather warnings could only be broadcast live. Whoops!
