I'm not sure how I feel about this one:

I actually love this idea. Wasn't there another drama show that spun off a sitcom? This would have been several years ago. I swear I remember it happening, but can't remember the show.

Could be interesting. I like the idea of having her teaching law at a college, as that could end up with some good stories of college lawyers-to-be.

I dunno about drama spun off to sitcom, but it HAS been done successfully in the past with sitcom spinning off drama (NO I'm not talking about THE BRADYS DAMMIT).

Lou Grant was spun off from the Mary Tyler Moore show into a WONDERFUL series about a newspaper. Lou Grant was the editor. Quite a few years ago, A&E used to repeat it along with The Paper Chase. It'd be nice to see it on TV again.

Ally - from Ally McBeal I think.

I know most of you must be right now thinking about what a great spin-off Enos was from Dukes of Hazzard.

But if you aren't, here's a good web site that lists different spin-offs:

Ally doesn't count - it wasn't really a separate show. I was probably thinking of the Mary Tyler Moore Show --> Lou Grant thing, even though it went in reverse from sitcom to drama.

you had the opposite with Trapper John M.D.. wasn't that a drama?

Yep, Trapper John was another one I was thinking of, but it did go from comedy to drama (MASH to Trapper John, M.D.)

When I first saw this thread, I thought the spinoff was going to be with Jimmy Berlutti.

Do either of them have names yet, or will we need First-run only Actor WishLists?

The two new series? I imagine they'll be named sometime before they come out. The fall season is still a few months away, ya know. :)

Are you thinking "Beverly Hills Buntz" from Hill Street? (Note that supposedly "Buntz", not yet Sipowicz, got canned for punching the police chief, and Ellenor just punched out someone.)
