Wow--what's with all the HMO bellyaching?

Geez, I've never seen so much displeasure with a free trial. If you don't like HMO, don't buy it!! I personally have been using it since its inception, and now with a 2nd Tivo it is a no-brainer. "But yah, it doesn't wash the dishes." Give me a break!

I heavn't read all the bellyaching, but I've had it for a while too and I do think that while its a great foundation and solid concept, the implementation of it is poor. Cant play mp3s while browsing tv stations? No graphical screensaver? No scrolling of long title names? No playlist building? Tivobeacon crashes every time you run it on PC, so you gotta go opensource JavaHMO? Cant view pics and mp3s at the same time? Doesnt transfer when you buy a new tivo? Cant play videos off the network? $99 for all this?

I can say that for sure I am content with my purchase of HMO, but I do have to say that I expected a lot more from Tivo. This company was successful in the beginning due to the support of technonerds everywhere becoming early adopters and spreading the gospel. Now, after years of slow technology advancement and crippling fees for non-transferable half-implemented services, some of those same technonerds are becoming vocal.

I assume it has to due with Tivo not wanting to pay for extra developers for HMO. Maybe the market is smaller than I imagine. Right now it seems like one or two guy did HMO in house over the past year or two, and they've probably got a todo list a mile long.

I wont even go into how pathetically slow the TCO website is...scheduling tv shows to watch with a website that seems about as responsive as a mail in rebate is painful.

I will continue to fund tivo and spread the word for now, but for how much longer I do not know.
