What HDMI cable for HR10-250 HD
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm going to order an HDMI to DVI cable for my HR10-250 HD to my Sony KDF-60XBR950. I need a 3 meter cable. Anyone have suggestions? Any special HDMI connector?...joe

A 10 foot HDMI-DVI cable is included with the HR10-250. If you only need 3 meters, there's no need to order a different one.

Yes.
It comes with both HDMI-HDMI and HDMI-DVI.
That's one thing I noticed about Tivos, they come with all of the right cables (well except the digital audio...) :D

I have a question about the cables that were provided with the HD-TiVo. I grabbed the HDMI to DVI cable out of the box but it did not fit. It fit fine into the HDMI port on the back of the HD Tivo, but the DVI end did not fit into the back of te plasma. Do I need an adaptor? For the record, it's a 50PHD6UY with a DVI blade... and it's less than a day old...

Do you have the Panasonic TY-42TM6D - Monitor Terminal Expansion Board? It seems to be an optional accessory and a requirement for DVI.

From the pics I just looked at it looks like an RGB computer style input so you may need an adapter.

yes... it's the 42TM6D. What kind of adapter would I need... from what to what?

The TY-42TM6D is the adapter. If that's what you have, look at the connector and the cable. Do they look like they should fit together? Are any pins bent or holes plugged? Are you sure you aren't trying it upside down?

um... OK... I'm officially a dumbass! I guess it would be helpful if you could actually see the connection on the plasma without becoming a contortionist! I'm now watching in beautiful HDMI/DVI glory.
As for my initial impressions... If it looks this good out of the box I can't wait to see it after it's been calibrated. Even SD looks much better than I expected...
Thanks Pat...

Have you tried the componet connection yet???
On my rear projection Mitsubishi the HDMI-DVI looks terrible and component looks great!
Anyone have any commments on this (I know, I've seen the post re: bad PQ with HDMI-DVI).
Could this be a cable quality issue???
Thx

A bad cable would show up as no picture to a bunch of bad pixels or sparklies. Problems with digital signals don't show up as incremental differences in quality but as very obvious breaks.

I'm not familiar with your set, but assuming it's a CRT based device, it's analog. Apparently the Tivo converts digital to analog better than your set. That's why the picture looks better.
For DVI cables, quality is irrelevant. It either works or it doesn't.
