When using the HDTivo attached to a 16:9 display, at let's say 720p output using component inputs, what options do I have when watching 4:3 DTV material.

Currently my TV is a Panasonic Plasma TH-42PDW6UY. I am not sure that when using the Component or DVI input, I will be able to stretch the 4:3 to 16:9 with the "JUST" mode, which I currently use with S-Video and my 4:3 DirecTIVO.

What options do I have with the HDTivo box itself? Can the box stretch the 4:3 DTV material, (Not Standard Definition) but an HD channel that is broadcasting DTV.? Can it a Zoom, or can the HDTivo do a "JUST" mode which keeps the aspect ratio closer to normal at the center of the picture and stretches it at the edges.

Does anyone know what I am talking about?

Thanks,
John

From my experiences, most stations broadcasting digitally (OTA) pillar-box the 4:3 material before broadcast, so as far as the tivo is concerned, it'll be 16:9 content.

I have the same plasma. W/ DVI, the plasma can't do any stretching. But w/ component, you can take advantage of it's stretching modes.

Here is how 480 material breaks down with component attached to my consumer Panny plasma. Your pro panny may be different.

Rez set at 480i - 4:3, full, just, zoom
Rez set at 480p- 4:3, full, zoom
Rez set at 720p - unsupported by consumer panny, yours may be different
Rez set at 1080i - no options

Note that the HD Tivo has 2 aspect settings, "panel" (same as 4:3) or "full" Either can be used with any of the above options with a myriad of results. I just set the rez to 1080i on the HR10-250 and use the one of the two aspect settings on the HR10-250. I actually have gotten used to the "full" mode, and I think it works pretty well with the HR10-250. YMMV
