Well, this morning I broke down and called DTV re: the posting I've read about $ credits for purchashing the HD TIVO. The first rep basically said no.
No official policy, I told her I knew there was no official policy. She then said she understood what I was asking but the only dept that could do something is if you mention you are considering cancelling DTV. I told her I might. Bam transfers me to this "REtention Dept" and repeated my request.
Is wasn't hard, she quickly offered 6mos of free HBO and Showtime and $15 per month credit for 6mos. saved $156. sweet!!

I used the "wife is killing me approach", she laughed and said another caller was in the same situation.

One additional item, she looked at my acct. and said the basic protection plan was not covering the origianl DTivo unit and my Sony SAT HD200. she upgraded me to the advanced plan, however she was gettiing mixed reactions re: if the HD TIVO would be covered under any plan. Some of her tech support and others were say yes and no. So any know what the standard warranty is with the HD Tivo. Is the Circuit City plan advisable??
