turbonet install problems on hp...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

my pc died on me, so i went out and bought an hp. i hooked up all the drives and tried running the tivonet install disc. when i ran the nic_install it couldn't find my tivo drives.

that's b/c on the hp, the drives are detected as hde, hdf and hdg...not hda, hdb, hdc.

is there any workaround to this? i think my turbonet might be busted, but i won't know until i try running the nic_install again to make sure i have the software i need for it to work.

any other way to figure out if it's the turbonet card or if my software somehow got wacked with a tivo software update? i see the tivo in my dhcp list, but i can't ping it.

any help is appreciated. i'm using good old dialup to get my updates, but i miss my tivoweb!

well, i know it's not the turbonet card. when i connected the tivo directly to my cable modem i was able to make my daily call.

it just won't work when it's connected to my router (i recently bought a new d-link)... so i wonder if i have to configure something to allow the calls to pass through.

any ideas? i can't even check to see if my tivoweb is still up and running b/c when tivo is connected to the cable modem, i can't have internet access.

in another thread i posted it.

Linksys: 192.168.1.1 to 254
Dlink : 192.168.0.1 to 254

make sure the Tivo sits on a IP that the new D-link Router can supply.

shouldn't the tivo automatically get assigned a new dynamic ip on startup once it's connected to new router? i didn't give my tivo a static ip... so i'm assuming the ip address isn't the issue. but then again i don't know the difference between the 1 and 0 in the 2 routers dhcp ip addresses.

what i really want to know is if there is a way to setup the tivo drives for turbonet if they are recognized as something other than hdb (tivo b drive as primary slave) and hdc (tivo a drive as secondary master). the install disc i have for my turbonet doesn't seem to allow me to use the hdf and hdg that my hp seems to want to call my tivo b and a drives.
