"G-Day" May 28th. G4TechTV.

Well, as you may know, G4TechTV is comming may 28th. What does this mean for you?

*NOTE* Before we go ANY further, this thread will *NOT*. I repeat *NOT become a save Leo Laporte or TechLive thread! oh, and this wont become an "im glad leo is gone" thread. (points at avian).

Well, We will now see 12 shows from each channel. But Call For Help and Tech Live will *not* come back. It is rumored that Leo doesnt want to move to LA and that Call For Help will be grandfathered to TSS. It is also rumored that TechLive will now be PULSE, G4TV's weekly news show, wich should now be every day. We dont know the programming scheduel yet, nor do we know what hosts are comming back, but it is mostlikely all of them if they decide to move. Patrick norton is about to get merried, so he will most likely not come back.

They're still maintaining the studio in SF, according to comments in another thread. So on-air people don't necessarily have to move.

All of the stuff i have read at Leoville, TechTV and G4TV.Com have said otherwise.

I just hope accurate guide data is available by 5/28. With Anime Unleashed in all-rerun mode for the time being (hopefully they get Banner of the Stars II soon) I don't have a pressing need for data but it'd be nice to have so I can get acclimated to the new lay of the land....

I personally will not change the way I select the shows I watch. I will probably browse the ones I haven't seen and decide then.

If they screw up TSS, I'll delete the SP. This weeks eps have been pretty good. I just hope the content stays fresh.

Rich

ps Save Leo

Does anyone know how the box will handle this? ie. If I have an SP for TSS on TechTV will it correctly handle moving it to G4TechTv like they normally do when a channel identifier changes. Since they're merging, I just want to be careful.

My only question: Is Stephanie staying or going?

Fingers crossed ;)

I with you on that one!

If they cut her, it may kill the deal!

Unless of course Leo changes his mind (I seriously doubt it), Leo has already made it quite clear that he will NOT move to LA.

I too have heard of G4 closing the TechTV offices in SF, but keeping the studio with a meager staff.

PS: Save Leo!

So far it means even more Cinematech matching my WishList. G4 has gone into generic data for it now, and once already this week an episode of Arena recorded instead.

And there's still a huge ticker ad for SCION during it (when it is actually Cinematech)! One more incorrect or rerun recording and that WishList goes bye-bye.

So what's good on G4? I have heard about it but have never seen it before.

They have been playing it on TechTV.

I'm actually looking forward to this merger. I couldn't get G4 on Dish and I watch Tech TV all the time and I'm a huge gamer. So far all the shows on the previews I have liked. Filter did a episode of top 10 Dreamcast games the other day and I loved it! Tech Tv has always had a large turn over of employees over the years. Most of the people there now weren't there 2 years ago. I love some of the hosts and I bet they will most likely be on G4 because of there fan base. I love Leo but I think he was ready to move on to other things before the merger was announced.

I don't see how the merger is necessarily bad. Neither really had enough shows to fill an entire station. Together they might have enough material to make it something someone wants to watch.

G4 was compressing the picture 4 times a 30 minute episode to promote the merger during Cinematech. Bye-bye, WishList! (Also got a rerun, more intrusive SCION ads, and too many scheduled episodes allocating future space. Was a WishList as the show has had two different series IDs.)

Yeah, Cinimatech s0x0rz alot. Its just video of video games, although i finally got to se Donky-konga (wishes i had a japaneese Gamecube). Leo will stay if they dont move. Ive heard that they are moving and that they arnt./

I gotta say, I was excited when my cable system added G4, but was quickly disappointed with the constant reruns and terrible guide data.

I've been downloaded eps of TSS for a couple months now, so I can't wait until the 28th.

I'm also stoked to finally get Morgan Webb ;) and X-Play on a regular basis.
