Using Smaller Drives

I upgraded my 2 Tivos Samsung 404 with a 160 gig and 120 gig harddrive to 230 hours. I don't think I will need over 400 hours for shows, so now I want to remove the 120 gig drive from each Tivo and put back the original 40 gig drive. So I will have a 160 gig as the A drive and a 40 gig as the B drive. What is the best way to do this? I want to preserve setup, seasons passes and recordings.

Using the new Hinsdale How-to would I use:

Step 7 Option #2
then step 8 restore
and after that at step 10 could I use Upgrade configuration # 5?

Thanks

Can't be done. You can revert to a smaller drive set only by using a compressed backup and thus losing all your recordings.

You can make a fresh backup to preserve your current settings.

So I can do this only if I do not want to keep my season passes and recordings?

You can keep your season passes, but not the recordings.
