Upgrade stock Phillips and xfer rec'ings from another?

As you can see from my tag below, I've got 3 TiVos.
One is an upgraded Phillips modded to 80 GB by tivoparts.com. I'll call that Tivo A.
The second one I got was a stock 30GB Philips. I'll call that Tivo B.
I put Tivo A in my main video room and Tivo B in the area off the kitchen.
I acquired a third Tivo C, a stock Sony SVR2000.
I upgraded Tivo C to 120GB. I replaced Tivo B in the area off the kitchen with Tivo C..
Love the room I get with 120 GB. Want that in the main video room.
So now we can forget Tivo C. :)
I wonder if it's a good idea that I have a stock Phillips program image backed up on CD. I'm thinking I want to take the HD out of Tivo B (the stock Phillips) and run Hindale's MFStools CD program up to the point where I can transfer the SP's andr recordings, then stick in the Tivo A HD (which has been used in the main video room) and transfer all the SP's and recordings from it, then put the upgraded drive in Tivo A.
I would then get rid of the 80GB Tivo A.
This would give me three things: a stock Phillips image I can backup to CD, a stock Phillips backup hard drive to store, and all my recordings transfered from the 80GB Tivo A to a 120GB drive.
Or am I just paranoid and making this too complicated?

One thing to consider is that there's only room for one more pair of MFS partitions in your A drive's partition table. If you copy + expand on to a 120Gb drive, you will not be able to copy + expand on to a larger drive.
If you're considering going larger than 120, you might want to do that now (otherwise you'll have to go to two drives if you want to keep your recordings).
Using a larger drive means replacing the kernel, but it's not that difficult. It's documented at PTVupgrade or in the 160Gb thread at the top of the Underground.
Also, there's not really a 'stock' backup. Any compressed backup you make will be the same, regardless of whether the drive set is upgraded or not.
