Cachecard driver release - 18 May 2004

Hi all,
I have released a new driver to improve performance and to fix a few reported issues:
http://www.silicondust.com/nic_install_pc_20040518.zip
http://www.silicondust.com/nic_inst...vo_20040518.zip
This release introduced fine grained semaphores to prevent long locks. Possible symptoms this should fix:
- Channel changing on a SA not 100% reliable.
- Occasional Error 51 errors on DTivos.
Both caching and ethernet performance have been improved.
Notes:
- If running xplusz please consult the FAQ or copy the files manually.
- If running a PTVupgrade install then do not run nic_install.

For those of you running with our kits, and NetReady installations created with InstantCake, please do not use this release to update your drivers with nic_install - the utilities will re-write your rc.net and rc.sysinit files and undo some of the changes we've made.
Please stay tuned, we'll have a fix shortly that you can download and use to update the drivers on your units.

Will you be updating InstantCake so the new drivers are already on it?
Just curious.

Probably not any time soon as its not critical; the InstantCake distribution will allow you to bring your unit up on the network, so the aforementioned update can still be downloaded and installed after you've completed your InstantCake build.

We've incorporated Nick's latest CacheCard drivers (05182004) into a small download that can be used to update your InstantCake/NetReady or any of our networked replacment drive kits.
Download and installation instructions are available here:
