If I hit record while watching show in buffer - save show

Here's the situation, if you have a 30 minute show in your 30 minute buffer, and the top of the hour comes along - you lose the ability to save the show int he buffer - this sucks!
So I'm watching the show that just finished in the 30 minute buffer and say to myself "this is a cool show, save it" as soon as I hit record, it throws away that show and starts rcording the new show that just started...
It should prompt which show to "record" and let you select the show that just ended or the new show just starting.

Or by default, if I'm currently watching the previous show when I hit record, it should assume I want to save that show, not the one that is starting that I'm not watching yet...
Meaning if I'm watching the new show, yes throw away the previous show and record the new show. BUT if I'm watching the previous show in the buffer and hit record, save that show - don't wipe it out and start recording the new show that I'm not even watching....

Defaulting to recording the one you are actually watching seems to make sense.
