found 20 units at N.Va. BestBuy

Found a Bestbuy in Sterling Va. yesterday that had 20 DirecTV HD10-250's sitting on the shelf. Obviously bought one. Had a preoder online to store in Fl. and cancelled that.
A rather new store and they said not many have been sold. The BB's near my house have't even got any shippments and have customers waiting.
So for those of you who live in N.Va. head over there.

that is where I got mine.

A good thing to remember about the BB in Sterling, is that it is a test store.

They tend to put a lot of the "new" stuff in those stores first.

But, you can also find yourself lost when they start shuffling the store around after 6mo.

Wow, I guess I can see into the future. Where are the guys now that said they weren't going to just let these sit on the shelves somewhere when there are people backed up a mile long to buy?

Another I told you so.

I guess these will all be on Ebay soon. DirecTV, how is that helping your customers?

DirecTV didn't have anything to do with putting them on the shelves. BB made the decision to send them to stores rather than offering them online.
And, quite frankly, if I can walk down to my local BB and pick one up instead of playing pre-order roulette, then that is helping me.

Posted by: higdf

When I read the post I called them to hold one while I snuck out of work to pick it up but they were sold out. :(

Posted by: turls

I know that. Tell that to the guy that made the original argument attempting to explain why DirecTV would rather sell units to VE than a big box store.

I wish it would have been true that DirecTV actually looked at when pre-orders were placed when they did these allocations but that was way too much to hope for.

How much were they? (just curious, have one already). $999?

Why? The fact that I can go to BB and get one off the shelf but I can't go to a local VE store is exactly the reason they shouldn't do that.

BTW, they were $999 at the Sterling BB.

They were $999. You also get some benefit from their Best Buy Rewards program though. I'm looking/hoping for one of their competitors to drop their price in the next 30 days. Need that price adjustment.

The Pegasus installer guy is at my house now and he has just finished the new dish install...the HD Discovery Channel picture looks GREAT to me. I never thought a Rhino could look SO GOOD!

Thanks for the tip. Just picked one up. They said they just shipped 3 to a store in Texas. I told them they were selling for $1300 on E-bay and their eyes got kind of a distant look and they said Really?

Posted by: jim_arrows

Jeez Hoss, did you seriously road trip from Richmond to Sterling to pick one up? Now that's wanting it bad!! :)

Jim

Posted by: elspankdog

They didn't happen to mention what store in Texas they sent those 3 units to did they? They either didn't know or wouldn't give me that info over the phone. I also pleaded to have another one sent to Texas to no avail.

Know where any more of the test stores are? (in the New England area...) :)

I saw two at the Best Buy in Reston VA yesterday. I could stop by on my way home to see if they are still there.

I wish I knew where others were. I just happened to be in the store at the right time and causing enough ruckus with a return to grab the attention of the mid-Atlantic manager/vp/whatever.

We talked for a few, and I asked him why the store was being remodelled after only being open for 4 months... he said that because the area was "technically influential", they were turning it in to a test-bed store and that they would be getting all of the new stuff before any regular BBs.

Considering I have a pre-existing arrangement with DirecTV, and they have "locked" the price at $999, yes I darn well think they should have done a better job getting these in people's hands in order of when they put a deposit down.

If they were that interested in giving the retailers a piece of the pie on existing customers, they wouldn't have changed the manufacturing exclusive to DirecTV, now would they?

There are too many people treating it like it is the next Playstation as far as supply and demand. Its different or it should be at least.

No the Sterling BB didn't say where they shipped em to but when I left at 11:00 this morning they still had about 9 of them still sitting there.

Posted by: GreyGhost00

Stopped by this evening ... they have a big handwritten sign right as you walk in that says 'We have the HD Tivo in stock! Ask any A/V consultant for details."

I only saw one in a box on the floor, however, they did have at least one hooked up to the HT demo stations where you sit down.

My buddy just picked one up for me at the Sterling store about 1 1/2 hours ago. They had 3 left. I had about $700 worth of BB Gift Cards that MUST be used in the store. So, I shipped my buddy the cards and a check, he went tonight and picked it up, and he's shipping it back to me tomorrow. I'll have it on Monday. BTW, no stores here in Arizona have them. The closest is San Diego. I actually considered catching a flight or driving there but I thought that would be a little overboard... :)

I just called the store since I had been on the waiting list in-store for several weeks and had not received a call that they had come in.

They have one left and are holding it for me.

It looks like the supply has dried up.

When I went to Best Buy in Sterling, VA to pick up my HD Tivo, they had just unloaded a truck and there were 15 more of the HD10-250 units on the truck.

That was around 3:00PM this afternoon.

I decided to stop by and take a look and they had a stack of them (14) against the back wall. While I was completing my transaction 2 people asked where I found it and ran back to get one so I'm sure they didn't last long.

I'm very glad I decided to stop by when I did.

:D

Is sterling the only BB in the area that had them? I just stopped by the Woodbridge store and was told that only the boutique stores had them. they wouldn't be getting them until sometime thsi Summer. What is a boutique BB store and is Sterling the only one?

Posted by: peteaba

FYI, Best Buy in Springfield had a pile of at least a dozen of them in the store last night (5/25).

Posted by: ArmyEagle

The Best Buy on Jefferson Davis (Potomac) in Northern VA had 7 at 12 noon today.

Another BB in the area received 56 Saturday and all were sold on Saturday. Hurry!!

The Springfield BB store had 3 when I left at 10:15 this morning.

I bought the last one at the Sterling BB Store. They had two when I called at 5:30 and by the time I got to the store, one was gone. According to the web site, the Potomac Yards store had some as of last night. The Sterling store did not show up as having any on the BB web site, but I called anyway.

BB Potomac Yard says they're sold out as of now. If the sales droid is wrong, I won't be happy.

Perhaps it might be worthwhile to call several of the stores. Ask them to look up the HR10-250. You might luck out. I was glad I did not wait any longer. At the Sterling store, they were not with the other Tivos. I had to ask a sales guy and he got it for me. It was somewhere near the televisions. Also, keep hitting the site. I have no idea when their shipments arrive. I know that VE is now pushing the next delivery off another 5-9 days. They are having trouble getting a straight answer out of DirecTV. Such a mess...
Best of luck.

Just out of curiosity... where in San Diego? :)

Posted by: Marco

As noted above, when I called Best Buy at 10 a.m., the droid on the other end of the line told me the Potomac Yards location had no HR10-250s in stock. When I pressed, he said he was "sure," and that he could see Best Buy's inventory nationwide on his screen, and they didn't have ANY.

When I called the Springfield, VA location at 10:10, the droid there told me exactly the same story.

I was meeting a friend for lunch anyway, so I told him to meet me at Potomac Yards, and we'd wander in to BB **just to be sure**.

There were three white "DIRECTV HD DVR" boxes in a stack in the aisle, next to tall stacks of orange stand-alone boxen.

Well, there's two now, 'cause I got one. :D The manager honored tomorrow's 10% off coupon today, when I told him (truthfully) I don't live near that store and could I get the discount applied at a closer store during the sale.

Now to cancel some pre-orders ... ;)

I'm never believing anything BB tells me on the phone ever again.

Posted by: acroswel

I just left the Potomac yards BB. As I was walking in I saw someone coming out with an HD Tivo. Looks like that was the last one. I found the display and asked if they had anymore. The sales guy ran (literally) into the back to try and talk a manager into giving me one they had pulled from the floor for someone who'd called in. They had resolved to give it to me, but when they went to look for it, they found that it was already gone. I was 10 minutes too late.

Posted by: Marco

I feel your pain. :(

Important note to self (and forum): The Best Buy droids told me the store inventory info on the web site wasn't necessarily up to date. BZZZZT. Wrong again! I checked this morning and BB.com still showed Potomac Yard with inventory. As of now, it says they are sold out. Which squares EXACTLY with poor acroswel's story.

Posted by: Black Max

Looks like you guys just beat me to the Potomac Yards store!! I saw that they had some units in stock last night and planned to pick one up when we got off of work early (1:30pm) today. As I was walking out I decided to check the website one more time and saw that the units were GONE!! Oh Well.
